Reviews for A Big Wheel RV Park

| Nice park

By user-6445314... on 2017-10-23.

Stayed a month, very quiet and peaceful, police cruise through every day or so, the reason I gave 3 stars is it out of the way and when traveling back through area I called about dump and they said it was discouraged not to.

| Nice campground.

Although this campground is rather small, the sites are nice, level and shady. The staff was very friendly. We would consider coming back for a long weekend.

This campground is a quiet gem. Friendly and helpful owner and host. The rows are paved and that is nice to keep the sand out of your camper. The park is tidy. There seem to be some long time campers here. The campground is located on a road that dead ends. Crooked Creek State park is very nearby. You can ride a bike to the park which is delightful to stop in the Nature Center. Big Wheel is a good location to visit the charming town of St. Mary and the ferry to Cumberland Island. Fernandia Beach and Amelia Island are convenient to the campground too. Very good Wi-Fi experience in site no. 1. Adorable bantam chicken roam free and when we were there many chicks following their mama. Delightful stay.

No extra charge for storing our trailer. I had trouble getting on the camp wifi so they gave me password to office. The Crocker River State park is a nice walk. We would have fit in their campground too. GA state parks are 30 amp service and no sewers and even more space than here, This park has concrete pads. Not a lot to do without boat, but if you helped someone work on their boat, I bet they'd take you sailing. Submarine Museum intetesting. Can no longer tour naval sub base since 9.11.

| Is there room for a 6th star?

The family run camp is a little taste of home. It is Thanksgiving and a turkey pot luck is being set for later today. She has decorations out ... The whole bit. That should give you an idea of this park. Neat, clean, bathrooms, shaded concrete pads, full hookups, lots of greenery all around.

So, left Central Florida due to Hurricane Irma. Headed to North Augusta SC and decided to stop for the night. Called around and got a call back from this campground. They said they had plenty of space and sites were $42 per night plus $2 for the extra person (my mom is with us). We thought that was reasonable. We arrived they told us to pick a site and setup since they were busy doing some repairs. One of the staff came over to check on us and asked where we were from we told them were we're from Central Florida and then asked if were we're heading out early. We said yes and asked if we needed come register. The lady said "do you have a $20?" We said yes and she said "that's all ya need". The park is very nice and looks like all the spots are concrete pads. Highly recommend this place. Then, on the way back to Central Florida, we called again to see if the park was open and operational. She said to come on if we wanted to, park was empty and had no power or water but we could stay the night if we wanted to. I asked if there would be a charge, she said nope, just come on. There was a lot of tree debris all over the place, but looked like the park made it thru ok. I felt better saying there, even without power, rather than in a gas station parking lot. We just heard crickets instead of diesel trucks!! We just can't say enough about how great and accommodating they were. We will definitely be back when we go back to St. Mary's to visit the US Submarine museum again. (Hubby is a submariner!!). Thanks again

We stayed at the Big Wheel over Memorial Day weekend. This is a very clean and friendly place! Really nice paved streets and concrete pads. Friendly and helpful owners maintain this quiet hidden gem. The location is close to the ferry for Cumberland Island and on the same road as a park. Can't wait to visit here again.

Friendly staff... had a pull-thru... there really is a rooster crossing... quaint little park... nice little clubhouse... near a State Park... quiet... should give a bonus star for the friendly campground cat that greeted us and didn't want us to leave... only negative was low lying branches at our site... trees could stand to be trimmed!

Clean, calm, quiet & serine. Very nice. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Best showers I’ve ever encountered in a campground! I’ll return to this gem.

On walking distance of the Crooked River State Park, you’ll find the nicest RV Park. A Big Wheel is a cosy and friendly park where everything is neat and clean. Thanx Conny and Becky for the pleasant stay. Nice big lots. Full hookup and fine Wifi. Clubhouse with TV, games and great Laundry machines. Recommended!

| Nice little park

This is a pretty park! There are lots of trees and shrubs in and amongst the sites. The roads are asphalt and the the sites are concrete with a picnic table at each. We only stayed one night but it was quiet and clean. Nice looking bath house and meeting area called the porch. There s a nice little lighting effect on it after dark. We would definitely stay here again!
