| Nice and quiet place

Nice and quiet place in the nature with direct trails. Starting point for us to visit San Francisco by BART.

| Mountain top in a eucalyptus grove.

This is the nicest regional park that I have visited in CA so far. The CG is on top of the mountain nestled in a eucalyptus grove that smells incredible and is a natural insect repellent. The views of rolling green hills and the lake below are are simply breathtaking. There are several hiking options, but most will include some steep incline/decline. The trails are clean and wide and all lead to more great views. There are only a few FHU and although they advertise 35' limit, #5 and a few others can accommodate 40' and a car. There are a few dry sites (65 - 70?) that are at least 60' long and have the most amazing views of below if one were to pull in forward (MH). The drive up is shorter from Castro Valley and you will encounter several skinny cyclist in superhero costumes on the way up. Even though their lane is three feet wide, they will ride in the middle of the road so be prepared to make a choice if another car is coming. The ONLY downfall is that motorists speed through (including the park workers), security does not patrol at night (even though I called them), and they do not usually deliver firewood. But they were polite.

A few FHUs but dump stations and water aparat available. Very quiet and spacious. Friendly staff. Showers and restrooms rustic but clean.
