Reviews for AOK Camper Park

| Perfect for a quick night of peaceful sleep

By user-5818365... on 2017-10-23.

We stopped here 8/04/16 and found it to be a very pleasant little place. Easy in easy out. Water/electric hookups were good. Nice little tree by each pull through will be really great for shade in a few more years. After reading the Aok website thoroughly we realized we overpaid. They take passport america (which we don't have) but also Good Sams (which we do have) We paid 25$ (it's an honor system with an envelope and slot in an building) so we overpaid by half. No manager on site. Quaint Lil convenience store across the street which came in handy for syrup on our frenchtoast in the a.m. :) The office is a bit obscure and could use an arrow pointing to it as there are two others that lok like they might be it on the right. (It's straight ahead and building on the left after you come a ways in the entrance) Would definitely stay again!

Stayed one night on the way to the ballon festival, really bad park if I would have been in a two wheel drive truck I would have been stuck! Had to pull out in four wheel drive and our truck and fifth wheel were covered in mud

This is a good place to stop when on I-40. It looks like they have redone or added sewer to all sites. They need to put gravel over the fresh dug dirt. If it had trained it would have been very messy. The electric outlets were all in great shape. With the PA discount this was perfect. It is about 4 miles to the Big Texan restaurant on historic Route 66.

| Better than dry camping

This is an old KOA park, and I mean old. We arrived after dark. There were envelopes at the office door where you can deposit your fee. It is not kept up, but peaceful and quiet. When I pulled into our site I had to be careful and stay out of the ruts, which were very deep. I got our travel trailer positioned and hooked up. No problems. Enjoyed watching the jackrabbits in the field next to us and all the cats in the dumpsters. Cannot complain for PassPort America price of $13.00.

I wouldn't let my dog stay there. It is under water and dump. Take it off you RV Parky site it makes you look unreliable.

25 a day, 115 a week. Left side if the park is all newer rv and the right side is older units that's been there for years. $12 with some pass of some kind.

Stayed one night. Just what we needed. Dump station and electric. Easy access to I40. We would stay again if we go that direction.

| Meets the basic needs.

This is a great place to stop along I-40 if all you need is water, electricity and a place to sleep. We also were able to change filters in the park. The spots are level, grass, and gravel. There are a number of working folks living here full time. No pool and if there are bathrooms, we didn't use them. Solid 50 amp power, pull through, easy in and out off of I-40. If you have Passport America, $12.50, otherwise $25. Lawns are well maintained and as of 8/15, 2 llamas, an emu, and a burro live in a shady field next door. I'd give it 5 stars for convenience and electricity.

| OK for overnight

Just north of I-40 east of Amarillo, Exit 80. Easy to find and reasonable rates ($25 or $20 with Escapees or Good Sam discount/ $12.50 Passport America). Mostly long level pull-thru grass/gravel sites. First- come and at 5 p.m. there were only 2 sites left.

| Passport America price is great

By user-5856064... on 2017-10-23.

There are no showers/restrooms but full hookups. Next to a farm and close To I40. Nothing to write home About but passport America price of $13.50 for the night is excellent. $30/night regular price, $125/week, $300/month. Would stay here again overnight. First come first serve pick of spaces.

| SHOTS FIRED

By user-4951062... on 2018-05-17. Stayed 2018-04-24 to 2018-04-27

SHOTS FIRED At 3AM on a cold windy rainy night, the cops knocked on my bedroom window and said there was a complaint of shots fired from my site. I said there were none and they went away. PROS: $14 with Passport America, convenient to I40, good water, 60ft pull through site, level, convenience store next door. CONS: Trash all over, noise from I40, store has bars on windows, derelict RVs at campground, barbed wire fences

| Good overnight

Not much to it. It's a large step up from parking in a Walmart parking lot. You get full hook-ups and 50 AMPs with a cheap Passport America price of $14.00. They have quite a few permanent campers which causes a run down atmosphere. There were plenty of cigarette butts around our campsite but again, it was fine for us being we we're passing through. The price was right!

| Nothing Fancy

By user-5267387... on 2019-08-09. Stayed 2018-08-18 to 2018-08-21

This place is an old KOA campground pretty basic but not bad for what you get. All sites are pull thru and most are 60 ft. long. Pretty clean but not fancy, We would stay here again.

| Only Just OK!

Good for one night, has full hook ups and as others have said it's old and mostly old permanent rigs in the park. On the negative side we had to try 3 different sites before our EMS meter said we had safe power! Also, this park is right under the flight path for departing jets from Amarillo International Airport! Also lots of old, junky rigs and permanent residents! Don't think we will be back again.
