Entrance is 1 mile of dirt road. The park is very clean and well maintained. Level concrete pad on the pull through site. Camp host is friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night, but loved it.

I can tell new management. Lots of improvements to park. Mowed up nicely. Very, very clean amenities. Lots of calm wildlife in the area. Several hiking trails, now have canopy roofs over some of camping spots. Really loved this. Highly recommend. Very helpful and corgial camp host. Will stay again

Found this place while passing through. Wonderfully maintained property with level concrete pads, power and water at sites. They have several sites with covers and adding more by the day. The road leading to the place doesn't look like much but once you arrive you are in paradise. Price also can't be beat. $15 for a 30 amp hook up.

This is the most beautiful, well kept park We've ever stayed in. Large, level concrete pads in most sites, full hook up with city water. The have covered picnic tables, fire rings and firewood at each site. Miles of maintained trails through the woods and along the river. One thing to note : the meat packing plant in town has currently been dumping its effluent and I'd being fined daily, but it's not safe to fish at this time. Hopefully, this will be resolved soon, but it may take a couple of years to recover. No smell, though... Squeaky, the camp host, is clearly dedicated to this place. There is a bird sanctuary lovingly built and maintained by townspeople. We'll definitely be back

| A gem of a park

We were on our way home from Albuquerque and needed a place for the night. Since Arkalon Park got good reviews we decided to give it a try. The idea of a park like setting was appealing. I called ahead and talked to Squeaky who assured me he had space and advised me of his location. Squeaky was an outstanding host and dedicated to making the park and campground the best around. There were some strong storms coming in from the west that night and he cleared out under the the pavilion so we and another could park out cars underneath in case there was hail. Thankfully there was none, but had it been a serious storm the warning sirens would have alerted us to go to the several concrete shelters located around the park. Read the other reviews about the river and fishing warnings.

Stayed overnight, based on recommendations we saw here. Very nice and comfortable accommodations. Squeaky was very helpful and even had a great recommendation for breakfast. Looks like they are constantly updating when they can. Road in needs a little work, but well worth the short drive. Beautiful place, loved the turkeys walking thru the campsite.
