The campground lacks any sort of control or monitoring of rude kids! Walking thought sites, riding bikes, chasing wildlife ( with bikes) loud noice after dark, remote control device's. I guess I missed the Park's posting that all kids are on their own! More than once I was almost ran into by a out of control bike! When we bought the wildlife issue to the attention of the staff..... They are working to have the wildlife removed. There is definitely something wrong with this thought plan! But maybe this would be better in the long run, at least the wildlife might have a chance to survive. I didn't see anything indicates as to ' not to touch or feed the wildlife' ! This evening observed a child chasing wildlife with his bike for awhile and the KOA individual just road right by! Unable to have a bonfire due to many rude kids in the water in front of my site! Will not be back!

| Trains are a pain.

Tent area lacks grass area. Hard rock required a hammer to set stakes. Night noise from trucks trains and planes are a problem. Bathroom clean and shower adequate. Nice layout but would only overnight due to the noise. Did not get restful sleep.

Nice facility, however, HOW CAN ANYONE SLEEP with the nightly train traffic? I'll look elsewhere next time

| Never Again

This campground is exactly why we choose to stay in State Park campgrounds. Overpriced, cramped sites! We were only here because friends invited us to tag along on their vacation. RV sites in the front section are incredibly small. We had to push our picnic table up against the side of our camper in order to walk between it and our neighbor s camper and we had to be careful not to trip over their sewer line. Never sat or ate outside. A fire in the fire ring was absolutely out of the question and we worried that our backdoor neighbors would light one and burn us to death in our sleep. Children are grossly unsupervised and ride bikes everywhere, even through our cramped site! We drove around and did notice that the sites in the back section are a bit bigger, but not enough to make much of a difference. The tent sites along the lake are so shallow (from road to shoreline) that larger tents were mere inches from the road. Glad we had our own bathroom facilities because each time we passed the bathhouse there was a line for the TWO showers even late at night. We originally booked for 5 nights, but only stayed for 2.

| Our favorite KOA

We ve stayed at this koa for years and our favorite spots are along the creek. Yes the train can be a bother but running the air at night drowns out the horns and it doesn t bother us. Lots of kids around having fun, we ve never had an issue with rude kids. It s summer, families vacationing and having a good time! We usually take our dog and she just chills and loves to watch people and not bark. We ve stayed around the pond, not a fan of that area, popular for people fishing tho. Pool gets crowded wish it was larger but we don t spend all day out there so it s ok for our short stay. We we love the town of Black Mountain and enjoy strolling the streets, shopping and getting a bite to eat.
