Reviews for Barefoot Bay Marina & Resort

| A little disappointed

By user-5907342... on 2017-10-23.

After reading the positive reviews and that this park was recently named one of the best, we were a little disappointed with our 4 nights there. While our site (#13) has a beautiful view of the lake, it was so close to the other RV’s that we were reluctant to sit outside and enjoy it. The sewer connection for the RV next to us it was practically under our picnic table. Also, as usual in a private park, there were quite a few of permanent residents and one of those next to us apparently was housing for a group of 4 or 5 workers who spent much of their off time trying to repair the A/C on the run down RV. The roads need work as well. I’ve seen worse and I gave it a 3 just for the view and proximity to the lake, but I doubt we’ll be back.

We were playing in a golf tournament close by and decided to stay at Barefoot RV. Nice facilities with numerous permanent residents. Nice people and clean restrooms.

Sites are close and cramped. When their septic sprinklers come on the bad odor fills the park. Don’t expect too much from the staff in the store as they are lazy. Bees swarmed the laundry which kept my wife away, staff was unconcerned. They mow the weeds in the sites when they get TALL. We had to mow ourselves. Staff was unconcerned. Stayed a month to fish the spawn. Boat ramp is free when you stay in park. This park could be soooo much better if staffed with people who cared. We stayed 4 days and then got a month, staff made us move to another site because they booked ours even tho I told them we might stay a month when we checked in. The people that got our spot stayed 2 nights... wouldn’t it have been easier to just give them another spot? We are in a 40 foot coach... staff was unconcerned.

| Awesome Lake View

We recently stayed here passing through from Lafayette to OK City. What a beautiful lake! Very nice camp ground. It was clean and well maintained. We did take a walk on the hiking trail which while well marked on trees not well worn or grass cut on the ground. Check in/out was a breeze with friendly staff As we drove through Pittsburg we noticed the rodeo was going on so we stopped and watched made for a fun and unexpected experience!

| Great Views, but Short on Wow

The drive over the bridge and lake views at the park are beautiful. If you love lakes and wonderful views, this is the spot... But it felt like there were a lot of people living there as opposed to travelers, which changes the vibe a little bit. There were plenty of spaces available, we did makes a reservation ahead of time... And we were not given a spot close to the lake (reserved a lake view spot, we were 3 rows in... We could "see" the lake, but I guess the logic is everyone can see it). We were in between two other guests who seemed to be living there long term. Management would have done us a solid seeing we were only in town 5 nights to put us near the lake or at least space us out. There is very little space between sites (picnic tables with some walking room). Being nestled between two TT was a little cramped, and the park was only about 40% full. Our cell reception was spotty in this area and no channels came in on the antenna. Wi-Fi is only available in the store, which is fine, but it was slow and inconsistent. Had all the other amenities listed, but they are all a little underwhelming- old, small W/D, but clean and working. Swings & slides for the kids, but lots of ant piles made me nervous. Small Beach area for a surcharge, but kinda just a small sandbox that needed refilling. The shower room was immaculately clean and quite roomy, which I appreciated. Overall, we enjoyed the serenity of the lake, quaint town nearby, and being unplugged.

Beautiful location, but. Way too many long term tenants with their sites junky and trashy. Way too many campers crammed into one park. If they'd get rid of the long term and put about 30% less campers in there it would be nice.
