Reviews for Blue Heron Campground

| Not too bad for a NFS park

Be aware that the roads leading in are less than optimal for a larger rig. There are some significant grades and sharp turns. The campground itself is fairly nice for a base camp for hiking/sightseeing. One small playground and that's about it. 20/30amp and water at all sites. Dump station is available. Side note: bring your own beer. Mccreary County is dry.

| OK for price

40 sites all with water and 20/30 amp electric. Paved sites. $17 self pay and 50% discount for senior and access pass holders. Road to the park would be a challenge for big rigs but the park itself would be OK. Dump station. Gnats will eat you alive.

Nice park for what it is. Slightly better then rustic as everysite has water and 30amp power. There is a central shower building that is a little dingy. Small playground on site but nothing else. Great out of the way location and access to lots of kentucky mountain History and hiking. Although no hiking right at the campground. Selfpay station & $17/night.

| Nice campground

Out of the way campground; had to ask directions at gas station since written directions were not completely correct. Not very populated with campers in late April; had small loop to myself. Wifi at center of campground but not at my site, #22. Nice park rangers. Met host but she didn't go out of her way to check on campers. Bathroom OK. Good spacing between sites. Horse facility nearby. No close hiking trails or other amenities that I could see. I would stay again.
