Not a fan of this park. It is so tight some could not even get out till neighbor came back and moved truck, 2 hours later. Almost all workers are residents and very cliquey, say hi but we were not ever invited to gathering or stop and talk. We stayed over 2 months and board for last month. Very OLD (1963) park, not maintained well. Built when big trailers were 18' long, not for big coaches. Very tight sites, only 3' between slides. Bathrooms were kept clean by the only friendly worker in the park. Park is in terrible neighborhood with noisy party's all night. Pictures don't show how it really is, weeds and sand. Maybe OK for a short visit but not for long stay.

Boyds is not in Key West proper....it is on Stock Island just before you go into Key West (industrial area for the lower keys). Driving to this place you will think you are in the ghetto and the smell of dumpsters lingers in the air. We did not stay here after driving through - all dusty roads, very small sites, and we had spoken to others who stayed here with larger rigs and could barely maneuver through the park.

First, it's the most expensive campground I have stayed at, but it's on Key West. Real estate is a premium there. The sites were a challenge to get into as everything is crowded. I was amazed at the variety of sites - anything from tent size to big motorhome. Bus stop just outside of campground made it easy to get downtown, although the bus schedule is not necessarily accommodating. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bathhouse facilities were well maintained.

| Best rv park nearest key west

We've stayed here twice so far and the staff and security are top notch. The sites are well maintained and everyone is super friendly. The campground proper is actually on stock island, about 3 miles from downtown key west. Rent some scooters to get back and forth without the hassle of parking a car and paying for it. I never noticed any unpleasant smells, bathrooms are clean and modern.

Great place to be, if you can get a Water Front RV Site. People are very nice and maintain the site very well. Our spot 124, with a ocean breezes flowing through our windows at night, very refreshing as we slept through the morning. A little pricey but a great spot.

| Nice place great location

By user-5883140... on 2017-10-23.

Only 4 miles from the action on K.W. the location is hard to beat. And if you want there us a bus stop right outside the entrance that will take you to Duvall St. For $2. Security at night, manicured sites and some sites right on the water. All good. At $85 a night is high to us, but perhaps not for the area. We are in a 190 Roadtrek so the small tight slots and narrow road weren't a problem for us. Could be for a larger rig though. We would go downtown and pay $20 for 24 hour parking making it really $105 for the day. Truth be known we probably could have save some bucks and stayed in the parking lot (no shower or generator though). There are some large lots in the northwest corner of KW where one might stay too though the authorities frown on it. We stayed here 3 nights and if we did a do over we might have done one with parking lots mixed in. Still if you want to be sure of a place, easy access to KW, and showers this would be the place.

We were there June 11th through 15th of 2017 on a "tent with power" site. A waterfront site would have been a worthwhile upgrade but none were available. It's the most expensive campground I've ever stayed at and the smallest campsite, but it's Key West. It's also one of the cheapest lodging options there and there's just not much land to be had on Key West! I would definitely stay there again.

| By the way - local beaches

By user-5055794... on 2017-10-23.

Smathers Beach, Higgs Beach, and South Beach are on the east side of KW - these are NOT beaches as most Floridians or east coast visitors are accustomed to visiting. Water around the island is very shallow and during the hot weather the plant life tends to emit a pungent odor. If you want a more traditional beach, visit Fort Zachary Taylor on the south end of KW, nice beaches, deeper water, rock formations that you can snorkel around and see cool fish, and they have an onsite snack bar as well as bathrooms.

| Excellent HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Boyd's Campground is GREAT!!! The staff is nice, office hours are great (open until 10pm). After office hours, security is on duty overnight. Security staff is also very friendly and helpful. We went to the pool numerous times. The pool is clean and relaxing. The tiki hut is great as well. The laundry room is clean and security works with you if you need to use it past hours for emergencies or what may be. We have a 40ft 5th wheel and we consider the sites comfortable and the neighbors were always friendly. We have our own bathroom so we didn't use their facilities. However, we did see staff constantly cleaning the facilities. The only con about the campground was our disappointment when we found out that we couldn't bathe in our waterfront spot or anywhere on the ground. This however, is not the fault of Boyd's. It's due to the water in the keys. I will say that our area did have a funky smell due to exactly this, the water. However, it wasn't anything that we couldn't live with. Closet beach is 2 miles away, Smarhers beach.

I gave this park four stars because of everything they do right, but kept one star for the price of the lot I was put in (51C). The good: this place is very safe and I felt like I could leave the doors open and everything would be fine. The staff was very friendly. They met us at the gate after-hours and took us to our site. The gentlemen helped back me in the spot, which was very tight, and that made points with my wife who didn't have to help with this chore. The location is perfect for the day trips into Key West and other areas at the southern end of the islands. When it came time to leave the park, I had an issue with the black water valve. I went down the store and they had another one that I purchased and they gave me an extended checkout time so I could fix the issue. The bad: I was in spot 51C, which is Premium spot according to the park. I had a dock walkway behind my coach and a trash dumpster to the front. On the other side of the dock walk was a pier and there was a considerable size boat (fishing charter apparently). The boat was fired up at 0700 the first day and people walking back and forth to their other boats was noisy. The trash came twice that week and I was so close to the bath house could hear the blow dryers going from the guests. This spot is anything but upgraded, as a matter of fact, if I owned this park, this spot would either not be a spot at all or it would be discounted because the of everything blocking the view. Overall: Overall we had a pleasant stay and would stay again, just not in 51C or the ones around this spot.

| Great Staff / Tight Quarters

By user-5629823... on 2019-08-09. Stayed 2019-01-09 to 2019-01-17

We stayed just over a week. The park is extremely tight to navigate. When we arrived the staff guided us to our spot and since there was no room to back in with the truck the staff had us drop our trailer in the street and the placed it on the spot using a powered trailer dolly. In order to pull out several cars had to be moved. Overall the park was extremely nice and the staff was super friendly. The restrooms / showers were clean and there were several washers and dryers.

| Great place to stay

Certainly the best if the campgrounds close to Key West, spaces are tight with s lot of greenery and coconut trees (which prevent awnings from being used) concrete patios at most sites, tent sites are lovely being grouped on the water front. Great bathrooms (lots of them) super lean, good laundry, full hookups (no rv washing due to limited water on Island). Has a boat dock and trailer storage - for a fee. Superb restaurants within minutes of the campground. Downtown is only a flat 5 mile cycle on wide bicycles footpaths. There is a city bus stop outside the campground to Key West. Lovely pool nicely heated. Con: the wi fo is hit and miss, we got it a few times but generally got the message incorrect password. It is not cheap but it s a nice place.

| Great week.

By user-5744147... on 2019-08-09.

We stayed here for a week in the end of April. It is a tight park and the staff helped us get set up. We had a great waterfront spot close to the tents. There is a wide variety of people coming here, which is expected since it's Key West. No complaints from us and we would stay here again. The staff was always super nice to us. A good classic rock band played at the pool at the end of our trip. We did not have good wifi, but didnt need it. The Navy was doing a lot of practice runs whilst we were there and they were enjoyable to watch.

We enjoyed our stay at Boyd s. A very friendly staff, the outdoor staff were cleaning and pruning the grounds daily. All the facilities were in tip top shape. We will stay here on our next visit to Key West.

| Secure and great

By user-5003319... on 2019-08-09.

Stayed for 4 nights and had a great time, the staff is very friendly and helpful. A little pricey, however they have 24 hour security and don't even let taxis or Ubers all the way in so it felt very secure. They offer boat slips for $30 a night and if they have room additional parking is available for 20 dollars due to the small camp sites. Highly recommend!

| Waterfront Sites a BUST

By user-6123118... on 2019-08-09.

Paid extra for a waterfront site. Our site was right in the corner where all of the seaweed was piling up. HORRIBLE SMELL. We were unable to spend any amount of time outside. Should I find myself back in the Keys I would either look elsewhere for another campground or stay at a non waterfront site. Pool was great, grounds were kept clean. I even appreciated the morning wake-up from the Naval Base and the Freedom Flyovers!
