Have stayed here many times. Very quiet, spacious sites. Well maintained grounds, shower and bath reasonably clean, varies with camp host. Launch ramp adjacent and located right on the intercoastal. Wake up to yachts and fishing boats cruising by. Best restaurants around in Georgetown waterfront 20 minutes north, you'll come back too!

| Nice little park right on the Intracoastal

Buck Hall Recreation Area is conveniently located right off route 17. The $20 includes a $10 senior discount plus a $10 reservation fee! The reservation fee seems awfully high but I assume it is the same whether you reserve one night or several nights. We only stayed one night so it is steep. There are some overhanging trees but fairly easy to dodge. This is an older park so the sites are narrow but plenty long enough for any size rig. They are all back-in and some would be tricky to get a big rig into. The sites are paved and some have trees but they offer little shade. Site 8 could use some trimming. The park itself is full of beautiful trees and it is right on the intracoastal. It was fun to watch all the boats passing by. They also have a boat ramp. Bathrooms were under renovation. The showers worked but not all the toilets. They had port-a-potties set up. There are lots of no see-ums expecially at night. The sites are water and electric with a dump station. Directv satellite worked fine in our site (9). Verizon was 4g 3 bars. For the most part it is very quiet although you can hear some traffic noise from 17 even though it’s a fair distance away. We would stay here again.

| Great Campground

Water and electric sites beside Intracoastal Waterway. Tables and fire rings provided. Campground currently having water issues, so portapotties provided in meantime. Dump station also available. 30 miles from shopping and Charleston attractions. Lovely campground hosts made us welcome. Be sure to check online booking website as walk-ins are a bit of a lottery.

The park is not well maintained with overgrown grass and a disgusting bathhouse. There are many frogs, tadpoles, beetles, and other creepy crawlies in the shower stalls. I counted at least 10 frogs in my shower stall with one of them jumping on me as I showered. The site I stayed at had trash all over that had to be picked up before I could set up. The recreation boat area is open to all public which is right next to the campground and there seemed to be a party the evening we stayed. We ended up leaving early as well as some other campers that were staying. We paid for 10 days but only stayed for one. Not recommended.
