Reviews for Cal Expo RV Park

| Nice for a state fair park

The four stars is largely based on comparing it to other state/county fair RV parks that we've been to. It was $40/ night for a parking lot. The sites were mostly level. The sites on the lot we were in were huge. The staff we interacted with were all very nice. There are paved walking/biking trails right outside the entrance. We were there on the weekend and could hear the the announcer for some of the events in the evening. It wasn't loud and I don't remember it going very late, maybe 10pm. Otherwise, it was a quiet area.

So many rules and regulations. The staff was very unfriendly. We left without even staying a night because they kept knocking on our door

This is another park with few facilities, but if you need a good location, open/flat sites, good laundry facilities and easy in and out then this is the place for you! At $35/night it's right in line with the other over priced CA parks and "Mable the Cat", resident manager, was very accommodating. We prefer the extremely flat gravel lot to the sloped paved lot but this time of year the park is your oyster!

We had a nice experience at this campground. It has a nice little store and everything you need to be comfortable. It close in to other services yet far enough away to enjoy some peace. We arrived with short notice an was treated very well, the staff is very responsive. The grounds are clean and well kept and everything was functional. Spaces are good and level with easy access. We will definitely return when in the area!! One of our better experiences. We asked for a pull through site as we travel with a 38 ft fifth wheel.

| Very Expensive - Dust Bowl

This place is nothing more than a gravel parking lot. If you are small enough, you might get a paved parking lot. The paved parking lot sites are extremely UNLEVEL. The gravel parking lot was nothing more than a dusty gravel lot. For the money that they charge, you should have gotten a lot more. The WiFi was very so-so. I definitely will not stay here again.

Gravel RV park, and I will say that the managers are not very polite.

The section we were in was all paved and looked just like a parking lot with some trees throughout. Lots of bright overhead parking lot lights. Good for security but not so much when it shines through the skylights. One big plus was the closed in dog area and the super easy access to the American River Bike trail. Good AT&T.

| A base to bike from

There is an adult park in the area that we usually stay at. However, this trip I wanted very easy access to the American River bike trail right from the RV. This park has that. Check in was fast and easy (my wife loved Mabel the cat). The first area of paved sites slopes too much for my comfort so we opted for the gravel area in the back. How much your jacks have to level you at gravel sites has a lot to do with how much previous rigs have disrupted it, but our site was dead on. Power pedestal was located at a very convenient location for our 37' Class A. I pulled right in, dinghy still attached, everything right where I wanted it. This isn't a park where one sits outside & enjoys the view. The aforementioned, very popular, multi-use trail however, is right here. (Users should check TripAdvisor first. I will suggest that, for safety sake, upon reaching the actual trail, you only proceed to the left, not the right.) A boatload of eateries are an easy drive away. Chick-Fil-A & Cheesecake Factory are just two we patronized. Many very nice parks have periodic issues with bike theft in Ca. Expo now has night time security to address this. Propane is available for delivery to your site. Newspapers can be purchased by the office. There is no store associated with park, but you are in the middle of a big city, not the Sierra. Places abound where supplies can be found. Provided Internet was rather inconsistent. Your GPS will likely take you to the fairgrounds, not the RV park. Suggest you use the address 1010 Hurley. If arriving via Ethan Way, go straight as you approach the address. If on Hurley, turn left at the address.

This is a nice park with very good security. We prefer the back lot which is flat and graveled. The people were very accommodating and the wifi worked fine. The park is located at the end of the Cal Expo park and is adjacent to the American River Bike Trail System. There are many trails that intersect along the way. Every time I rode, the was lots of security provided by the park rangers. We would definitely stay here again.

| Interesting how they have a picture from a park I used to live at. The last picture on their website is a guy that lives at stillman rv park in south Sacramento.

Stayed one night in the overflow area. Gravel lot with huge wide areas. Full hookup with 50 amp. If not looking for fancy and paved, just a safe place to park with hookups, I would stay in the overflow area again and would recommend. Did not use any facilities so cannot comment on those. My rig 32 foot 5th wheel 3 slides.

We stayed here for 4 nights in the paved area. I'm not sure what people are complaining about when the talk about sloping sites - our site needed a 2 in rise on one side and the tongue jack was raised higher than hitch position, that was all it took. People working there were friendly and helpful. Laundry worked for us. Price is high but you are in a safe park, without old permanent units surrounding you and close to many things. Besides seeing Sacramento we went to bay area for a day. Our friends did farmers markets in Sac and went to the Jelly Belly factory. I would stay again!

We stayed 3 nights while visiting a friend and touring Sacramento. It is like a well lit paved parking lot with pull through sites with basic hookups. It is next to the fairgrounds so probably used mostly by people attending events there. It is really not set up for any outside of your RV living. We knew this going in and didn't mind since we really were gone all day and just slept there at night. It is a little challenging to find if arriving at night. Security was provided by the State Fair Police and they were a visible presence at night. Free Wifi worked great. We will stay here again when on the area.
