Reviews for Camp America Campground

| Nice overnight stop!

By user-6524144... on 2017-10-23.

We were pleasantly suprised! Tired from a long day of driving we decided we were stopping at the next campground that came along. Grounds are nicely shaded with mature trees and very clean. Our site (#26) was so level we didn't need to unhook just dropped the stabilizers to minimize movement. There is a pool and small playground but we didn't utilize it. On the road again to our next destination. We travel with a fifth 5th wheel.

Nice people. Very comfortable. Gravel pads, and lots of flies, but hey, it's summer. We would come back.

| Love it here

We are here for one night only, just before they close for the season. We will not use laundry and will shower in our RV. Beautiful campground, if you like a quiet country ambiance. Big sites, trees. Very friendly owner. 50 amp hookup is always nice. Peeked in the rest room, and it looked clean and nice. If you want peace and quiet, with nice trees and a country atmosphere, this is your park. We have a 36' Class A Motor Home and tow a dinghy. Easy to get into the site and set up. Plenty of space for slide outs.

| There was plenty of room for our fifth wheel & truck

Nice level gravel sites with a grass area including a picnic table and fire pit. There was plenty of room for our fifth wheel & truck plus there’s lots of room between you and your neighbor. There are mature shade trees, but you should be able to use your satellite, I did. A small miniature golf course (for a price), very nicely landscaped park too. The staff was very helpful and friendly at check in. Nice clean facilities, nice outdoor pool. Great Wi-Fi too, no T-Mobile data here, but a strong phone signal (via AT&T). Some road noise, but tolerable and it dies down at night. You’re surrounded by farms growing their crops too. We stayed for a week with full hook-ups and a pull-thru at the weekly rate of $27/night, cash or check only. Charge cards accepted for shorter stays. And finally, they recycle here. A rarity in RV parks! Their simple website does not do this place justice. I would stay here again.

| I rarely give 5 stars

By user-5795539... on 2017-10-23.

Like the title says, "I rarely give 5 stars". This place is 5 stars. The owners re-invest the money into their park, which is rarely done anymore. This is a "large rig" friendly campground. For the most part, it is satellite friendly (sites 42 and 41). The water pressure is good. The water is good. Fire-pits at each site. Long sites (40 foot coach with dolly and car) that fits everything. There are two nearby towns; Salem and Canistota. Not much there but if you want to relax and enjoy, stay at this campground. If we are in the area again, we will stay here.

In the middle of nowhere but very nice place to stay. Gravel level sites. No amenities but nice shade. Pay showers and clean. Not crowed and very quiet. we did have radio signal but wifi weak. Pool and mini golf. Very hot and windy which is normal in the summer. one mile off 90 which is easy to find. Nice shade. Pool we did not use.

| Great Place!

This park is located 1.5 miles off I-90 in a grove of shade trees. There is another highway nearby but in the evening all we heard were the crickets. The showers cost a quarter for 6 minutes--far more than anyone needs! I hated to waste the water, but it's on a timer that you can't control. The restrooms were immaculate and the grounds were well-groomed. Definitely a good stop if you are traversing South Dakota.

| Very nice park....

Gravel but level, nice and shady and trees were trimmed up. Very quiet. Would stay here again...we have a 45ft with towing jeep.

We stopped in after seeing the sign on the road. They have some really interesting things for sale in the office that the owners have picked up at sales in the area. Everything from soup to nuts immaculate bathroom and laundry area and the grounds are the best we seen in a long time. A true five star campground. Dale and Judy

What a great campground with big shady trees, level sites, friendly efficient management!! We stopped here on our way to, and on our way back from, Mount Rushmore with a small motor home and large 5th wheel. They accommodated our request to be next to each other, and the hookups are so convenient, the motor home could park backwards so the doors faced each other and the hookups reached under it without extensions. We love it here!

A nice quiet spot outside Sioux Falls. Nicely landscaped with plenty of room between rigs. Very friendly hosts with knowledge of the area.

Loved this pretty campground. It was like an oasis along the freeway. Great place to stay.

Nice area, but they really need to gravel. Rained last night and it was a muddy mess in the am. Showers cost 25 cents for six minutes which is understandable but you cant adjust the temperature. Nice pool and playground...not much around area after 8 p.m bring your own groceries. I would recommend this place, unless it’s raining...be prepared for mud.

| Pool closed for the 2018 season!

By user-5460480... on 2019-08-09.

The new owners are kind and have just taken over. For some unknown reason the pool is closed. So be warned if you have kids, they may be disappointed. Clean bathrooms.
