Easy check-in with escort to site. No shade except along 1 side of CG has slight shade on rear of coach. Our, FHU, 50 amp site (#299) was grass/dirt and was easily leveled at first. They have runners for the tires. Our rear jacks, with supports, sunk. We had to add double supports and re-level. Ample space between sites to be comfortable. No sites have a water view, however, we had a "peek-a-boo" view between some trees. The water is a short walk away. Dogs are allowed on the beach, but the area you're allowed on is small as each side is a wildlife refuge with postings that no one is allowed, so no real walking on the beach. There is a pool & restaurant/bar. The food was good. They need to do a better job of picking up the beer/coke cans & cigarette butts on the perimeter of the restaurant/bar/pool. The CG, itself, was clean, and the workers were courteous. They just need more attention to details. Excellent WIFI & good cable. They have a crazy exit system without any real communication as to how to exit. You don't exit at the entrance. There's a dump station, and one would think the exit would be convenient to this, but it is not. Make sure you find out how to exit before packing up to leave. There is a state park up the road, and Cape Charles has a marina/beach, but is very small. We erroneously thought there was more in the area...not the CG's fault. We won't be back to the area, but if we did, we'd try a different CG. Just wasn't for us. We stayed in a 40' motorhome.
This place is new. Used to be a parking lot between the hotel and pool/restaurant on the beach, that's been converted into an RV lots. Expensive but it is a resort... Full hookups, brand new shower/laundry facilities on either end of the lot. Gorgeous pool, and cute tiki bar type of restaurant at the beach, and beautiful beach. Cottages for rent as well as hotel guests, everyone was friendly. Once the trees mature it will provide some shade and separation between lots, which of this place was fully occupied might end up looking a bit like just a parking lot.
No shade! No trees! Awful trying to level your TT. Had to do it 2 times to get it safe. Bad storm approaching, and the ladies in the check in, felt that having conversation with a customer getting a hotel room, is more important than getting a TT checked in. Because of the 15 mood n to check in, we had to work getting our TT STABILIZED, water hooked up, sewer hooked up, and electric, oh and the cable, all done in the rain!!! Thanks a lot!!
The Cape Charles KOA is beautiful, clean and well maintained! The resort offers a decent size beach for both people and dogs. Yes...the shade trees are minimal currently but they have a lot of trees planted. It will take many years before the trees are mature and can provide substantial shade. The staff are very friendly and helpful. My husband and I are having wonderful time and look forward to coming back!
Who would have thought! I pulled into this resort camp ground. Was driving for two days, and was excited to walk to a really great little eatery. Food was not fast food, nor quick serve. It was well crafted, elegant, and reallllllllllllly good. Service was superb, staff was fun and engaging. 5 stars in my book. Never seen this other than at Disney; a restaurant on site, on the water, in the camp resort! Ok, the campground was clean, lots of people having fun, smiles, and the staff was amazing. Really nice place to camp, and enjoy your self. Oh, let me not forget, it s not a boring, nor quiet Camp Ground per say. It s a fun, lots of happiness, things going on, fun spot, of all kinds of fun!
You won't find a lot of trees. The beach is really nice. If you have kids and do not want to worry about waves, this is fairly calm with some waves for them to enjoy. The pool is good, lights up at night. Bathrooms are very clean. One of the best encountered. A lot of items in store seem reasonably priced.
