Great campground

We spent Thanksgiving 2016 here and enjoyed it a lot. We also stayed here in April 2018 and enjoyed it again. My only complaint is about the relatively tight turn getting into the dump station, far right as you start in. The hosts are great and really pay attention to what's going on, especially about generator hours. The loop roads are easy to navigate and the sites are well spaced and spacious.

I was skeptical. It wasn t one of the Big Name places on our agenda. But man, it surpassed most of the other places by a long shot. BOOK AHEAD! It s full full full. And for good reason.
Fruits is this verdant historic little community nestled beneath crimson skyscraping cliffs, river meandering through lush orchards. It s an oasis. I see why they settled here way back when.
The sites are big. Full hook ups. Quiet after 8. Warnings posted about mountain lions.
Quite a few sites. We were right beside the river. The park is FULL of kids. If they could cram ten into a site, there s twelve. No exaggeration there. They are running amok and having the time of their lives. HOWEVER...the river (in March) is in full spring run off mode. It looks all nice and enticing and the wee kids, sans parents or supervision, play on its banks. My DH is a swift water rescue tech and filed an report at the headquarters to put up some sort of barrier in the winter. We watched as one little four year old playing with his slightly older sister almost fell in trying to fish . Please please keep on eye on these wee ones! It really rattled us to the core.
I did the hike up the hill. Views are breathtaking, went up to watch the sunset over the hills. Stunning.
Ok now for the pies. What can I say....again, skeptical, pie is fruit and dough. But even if you can t book a site, go in and get you some pies! 6$ per medium sized pie. SO packed with actual, real fruit! We had peach and strawberry rhubarb. I am craving one now. Literally would drive back if I could. They RUN OUT EARLY!!!!! So get there sooner in the morning than later. Also sourdough bread. The best! We kind of went overboard...bought apricot jam....trust me, buy two, buy three...soooo good!! And different salsas and sauces. We really stocked up lol. We bought baked enamel pans and serving spoons. Nice gifts for friends. And cowboy hat. Yeah we liked Fruita.
One of the only five star parks on our stop so that says it all.
Info Center on HWY by entrance is excellent!! Pull into the actual park though and hit up some pies!
