| Sehr empfehlenswert

| Chalk Creek Campground & RV is overated

Its an overated rv camping place. It used to be Browns Camping an RV Park and it was a lot netter an cheaper back than.Be aware that you have to pay to take a shower and they give you a code to enter the bathroom and the showers. Very expensive $53.00 per night for a fool hook up under the sun with no trees around. Free wifi that never works. The new owners didnt do any improvements to justify the price. Will think twice before going back there

Nice campground store, and friendly staff. We did not avail ourselves of the showers/facilities. They escort you in and see that you're comfortable - nice touch. I agree that the full hookup spots are no more than a gravel parking lot. Know that going in. If you're only there a few days, take the electric only down by the creek. The campground is kind of bi-level with the facilities and full hookups on the upper level. Down a somewhat steep drive, you come to the real spots down by the creek. We were in 41, a pull-thru next to the playground. It was a nice, shady spot, but next to the playground, we got screaming kids. Won't make that mistake again. Scouting it out, I think the best spots are any that border the creek. In order, 30, 21, 20, 24. The creek was a bit high, so it is NOT advisable for kids. Lots of fly fishermen, though I did not see a single catch. Yes, the wifi sucked - what campground wifi doesn't? It was enough for me to do email, but little more. Any wifi is a bonus in my book. We visited the ghost town of St Elmo - lovely drive and there is a waterfall of sorts along the way. Dinner at The Bounty in Salida - great prime rib and CHEAP. Visited Boom Days in Leadville, also a nice drive.

| Very nice could use some improvements.

We had site 30 and that was the best site there. It was on the water and that was cool. The other sites seemed very tight but still nice. We only had power but full sites were available. The shower bathroom was very nice the bathrooms close to us could be bigger and a little nicer. The stuff was super nice. We would for sure stay there again!

Gravel dusty place. Costs 56.00 for a unlevel gravel hot spot.Water in bathrooms are lousy doesn't stay on while you wash your face. Costs money for shower. No one was next to us but unruly neighbors gathered around our spot and made so much noise it woke us up early. Won't stay again. Thanks for reading. Bearcat from Virginia high.

Our trailer is 31' plus tow vehicle. We reserved a site in the lower portion (creekside spot 25). Sites in the lower portion are a mess. Which explains why they escort you to the sites. We were never asked how big we were or how many slides (we have 2). It was threading a needle to get into our spot, and our truck hung out into the drive. We had to avoid a stump on one side and a tree on the other to align for the use of both our slides. Neighbors to the back side were literally 2 feet away, front or door side were 3 feet away. Highway is directly above this section of the lower level, lots of noise. Fire pit and table for our use were in the aft of our trailer, right next to our neighbors on either side....too close for our comfort. Playground in this area was steps away. Lots of kids but the noise was drowned out by Creek. Loose dogs made it very challenging to get my own pup's out for walks. We decided it was our 'hotel' room for our stay. Lots of dispersed camping in area....on the river! Next time we will seek that route. The positive, very well kept, garbage areas and dog stations very accessible. If you are a tent camper, they have a beautiful grassy area for you with potties very close. This is a great place for a small or pop up trailer. Staff was incredible.
