I'm not sure why there's so many negative reviews. Big spaces, decent wifi, new Publix right next door and very quiet. Sure you check in at the Valero which also serves as a camp store, but the staff were very nice and you can check in and shop the store as late as 11 pm! There is a bar attached to the Valero, but its clean and a nice place to have a night cap.
Not even worthy of a 1 star. Place is certainly not worthy of using the KOA name. The only half way decent thing is the dog park, even that needs assistance. No one tells you that the check in is at Velero gas station no matter if it is 2 in the afternoon or 2 in the morning. Person who owns the campground also owns the gas station and bar next door as well as the liquor store. The kids running the gas station have no clue about the campground. TV< CABLE<WIFI pretty much dont exsist. The site they put me in the sewer is up hill......REALLY!!! They "rent" you a device to hook up to the tv so you can get local, still does not work. The bathhouse has 5 stalls, 2 were working when we arrived, now there is only 1. The showers 1- does not drain well, 2 no pressure, 3rd has light fixture above that has obvisoulsy had a ballast fire and the old fixture and bulb are still in it., the last half of the showers have no lighting, but do have plenty spider webs and bugs. There is no trash pick up, no one on site to fix issues...ie...sewer, power etc. Laundry room was disgusting with only a few washers or dryers that worked. If you do stay here, Tim Straton of Stratons RV Service 704-956-5515 is well worth the call. Reliable, dependable and honest! Oh yeah...there is a "RV" Repair on site called Tracy's RV Repair...DON'T waste your time, just call Straton's RV Service.
Camped in 5th wheel for a week. Great location. Felt safe and neighbors were quiet. Gravel sites with plenty of room and lots of shade trees. Publix was very close and convenient and there are lots of places to eat around. Would stay again.
Fun place for kids
Arrived at 6, office closed and had to go to the gas station to register. Lots are far from level. TV is a joke. You must use your antenna for local stations. Parked right across from bath house but it was closed. Other bath house was a good distance away, it was dark and I wasn't walking to it alone. Amazingly, in the morning the bath house was ope, so ??? $43 for a pretty lousy place. Certainly not KOA quality.
Very old needs work. The one bathhouse that was open was rough on the outside but the inside was nice. Laundry needs to be shutdown and restored. Roads need major repairs. Lots sizes are nice some were level some not. Some lots had small concrete pads. Cable was acceptable but you need a conversion box with a $25 security deposit. Wifi was not good. Playground in disrepair and closed. Pool was clean but lots of filth around edges of apron. Pool house/snack bar was nasty and closed. No fire rings build a fire wherever.
Stayed only one night while passing through on our way to Florida. Easy in and out but our site was worse than a Walmart parking lot. The office was a small trailer and we were placed immediately behind the office. We do not plan to stay there again.
I'm a VKR member. They should not be allowed to have the KOA flag flying. No one to help you to site. Take garbage at their leisure. Receipt numbers wrong. People parked incorrectly due to lack of guidance. Utilities do work. Stay One night only. Then runaway! Yes,check in is at the Vallero. We were going to stay a week. We're in a 38' class A motorhome with tow.
Took one star off only b/c some of the lots are at extremely steep incline. Our trailer hitch dug in when backing in & I even took it at an angle to mitigate. Super nice people who got us a spot on July 4th weekend with no notice due to a bad experience at another facility. Nice, clean pool & playground. Bath houses updated and clean. Lots are little tight front to back. Our neighbor behind us had their awning out which prohibited us from backing in fully and causing us to be in a rear to front decline. Some pads are concrete/some gravel. Store & gas station at front entrance for necessities and publix grocery next door. Overall excellently impression/experience
Stayed overnight on way further south. Full hook-ups, narrow sites but fairly level. Close to many stores and gas stations. Friendly owners, clean grounds, great for an overnight stopover! Stayed Nov 11/17
Really bad for a KOA. We planned on staying for 4 nights however we ran out of propane and they didn't have any propane! Something about their license being revoked or something like that. Also to check in you had to park your rig and walk across street to the gas station to check in. Area wasn't secured and no security. We left early due to no propane.
Just an overnight but it was fine. It feels like an odd location for a KOA and its setup a little differently. The checkin at the gas station was confusing but that probably let's them have longer hours. Bigger signage would be a huge help there. The bath houses are really nice - tallest showers I've ever seen, Bonus points there. But the floors are slippery, I wound up on my hinney taking off my shoes. The dog park is small but serviceable. No entry "airlock" which are typical. It also needs to be policed better. I give it a 2.5 bags for the amount of poop I picked up that wasnt my own dogs. Also, cable was out which I could care less about but they still gave me a discount.
