Stopped by today and was disappointed. I had high hopes from the pictures but the pictures are far from the reality

Loved this park. Everything was perfect except for wifi...but most parks lack sufficient wifi.

| First trip to this KOA

Nice place in an attractive setting among the Great Smokies. Wi-Fi and data services are pretty much non-existant but we did have a weak 1-2 bar signal most times. Campground is level and our site (#47) was paved and had a concrete patio with a picnic table and fire ring. We only used electric and cannot comment on sewer, water, or cable but they are available. There were construction materials at a number of sites so the owners do try to keep the park in good order. The nearest bath house appeared clean but was in need of servicing to clear a stopped sink drain and refill empty soap dispensers. The staff was very nice and we were escorted to our site and assisted in parking/positioning the RV. Compared to other KOA we have stayed at it was much better than most and will try to return when the weather gets a bit warmer.

| Great place!

This is a great camp for kids! They have so many things to do. Beautiful well-kept. Easy access. A little pricey though.

| No cell reception

Arrived and were greeted by silence. Upon questioning the KOA lady were told there is some reception in the bathhouse and way back. Hope you never have an emergency and need to call somebody. KOA lady advises there is a landline in the office!!

| Lots of kids & noise

By user-5805490... on 2018-06-27.

We picked this KOA out of our book & had intended to stay 3 nights, but when the movie they were showing outside with speakers cranked up was still running at 10:45pm we decided to leave after the first night. Seems quiet time doesn't start there until 11pm. When we checked out I heard they were having a DJ that night. We've stayed at a lot of KOAs throughout the US when we can't find a State Park or similar, but this one was the most noisy we've stayed at yet. On the positive, the entire staff was very friendly & they were gracious enough to refund us the other 2 nights which was much appreciated. When we go camping we prefer a less "resort" type of campground. Guess we chose the wrong place.

OK... So this is my first review of a KOA as it's the first time I've stayed in one. The park itself is exactly what I expected. Lots or kids and lots of campers. The staff was absolutely very friendly and helpful. I even received a discount at check-in when because I am a State Trooper. The discount applies to military, law enforcement, and fire/ems. My kids enjoyed the INDOOR HEATED Pool and hot tub! There was plenty to do and we were not too far from downtown Cherokee. I will say this... I had NO AT&T cell service the whole time and my wife's Verizon service would only work at the main entrance to the park. Cable television is avaliable and that a good thing because I could not receive any channels off-air. The Wi-Fi is a work in progress. I was told that the bath houses are the Hotspot for now but they are working to put it throughout the park. I would definitely stay at the KOA Cherokee again!

| Beautiful park

By user-5280788... on 2018-06-27.

This is a beautiful park. Great River side spots and views of the colorful mountains. It is a popular park with lots of children!!!! If you're looking for quiet, peaceful, find another spot. We, however, enjoyed watching the young fellow next to us play in all the mud puddles after the rain! There is NO ATT service in the park, Wi-Fi very iffy, but we go camping to disconnect from the world. Nice level concrete pads with fire ring and picnic table. Would give it 5 stars if it weren't for the noise levels from all the people sitting outside after 10 pm! The staff is very friendly! We will stay here again. Camped in a 40 foot Motorhome.

| Oct 2017...Very nice place & location

Great place to relax and enjoy the spectacular surrounding mountains, downtown Cherokee, and Blue Ridge Parkway. Stayed on sites 219 for 5 nights a 234 for 1, 38 ft MH...234 is spectacular and right on the best part of the river; you have river views up and down the river. FHU site with no issue, but wifi and cell coverage is horrible and mostly non existent. Grounds operational guy, Jonathan was exceptionally helpful and polite during our stay. On our first day, he stopped by to ask if things were ok. Additionally, we decided to stay one more night and although the reservation desk didn't have availability, he was able to work with the operation mgr to find us a site. He's very customer focused and his goal is high customer satisfaction. Note: If coming from the east on I40, gps will have u take rt 19, bad news for a big rig, 5 wheels, or trailers. Last yr I followed gsp and it was 4 thousand ft down a winding rd with no turn off option for 40 mins. Take 74 west to 441 into Cherokee.

| Second trip even better than the first!

By user-5341421... on 2019-08-09. Stayed 2018-08-03 to 2018-08-06

This is my second trip to this KOA! I typically do not like large chain campgrounds but this place is great! If you do not like kids or the activities that come with them do not come here. On the other hand.... 43 fifthwheel navigated the park easily and we had a spot (201) that it easily fit on.

| Very friendly

Very nice stay in off season. Few others there and very quiet. Staff extremely friendly and beautiful campground. Nearby area attractions. Will likely stay again.

| Great Location

By user-unknown on 2019-08-09.

This is a great location for entering the Smokies. We stayed in April. We were given a very wet, bumpy site. The big rig sites looked great. Our smaller travel trailer site, not so much. Given the fact that there were few in the park, I think it would have been nice to be given an upgraded site. There's a different campground down the road that looked great. There is also a large waterfall close by that was nice to hike to.
