Nice park
By user-4643545... on 2017-10-23.
Nice park with plenty to do. Horseback riding, fishing, hiking etc... Park was built in the 50's but well maintained. Little tight but fine for big rv's. Park hosts were great guys and very helpful.

Good, and old

Stayed a long weekend at the park.
Pros- not very busy, beautiful park w plenty to do (hiking, fishing, boating, etc). The park staff was super.
Cons- its a little rundown. The bridge across the lake is closed due to disrepair. The campsites were all uneven and somewhat hard to get into, all needed repair.
If this park had a good refresher it would be amazing. It's fine like it is, but will continue to decline without attention.

Run Down :-(

I have known this Park for many years, but this was the first time ever camping. We arrived around 12:30pm and the camp host actually meant me as we pulled into the park. This is the first time we did not make a reservation, because I saw online that there were going to be plenty of empty spaces and we wanted shade a preferably a pull through site.
Let me start by saying that the camp host was very friendly and helpful. The first site he took us to was very unlevel and the concrete had buckled up causing our trailer to lean to one side very bad. The second site was a back in site and I did a horrible job getting our trailer in there, but I finally succeeded only to find out that the breaker was bad and at that time could not be replaced. By now, I'm hot, I'm pissed and about to los my cool when we finally got site#50. This was a level pull through site and everything was working! The sites do have som incline or decline to them, but they need some work. I would not feel comfortable driving a big class A into this park, but that's just me. The bath houses needed some updating and could have been cleaner in my opinion. I typically shower at the bath house, but a saw a few bugs in the shower and decided to squeeze into our small shower in our trailer.
We were only there for two nights and there seems to be some good hiking trails, horseback riding, lake, cabins, tent camping, and a small gift shop which are all a plus in my book, but just disappointed in the Campground. I don't think I would return unless they do some renovations to the place, which I hope they will do.

This was our first trip in our rv! So without a lot to compare to it was a good stay! Some of the facilities was a bit run down but it was a very beautiful park! The one thing that did bother me was the store being closed. There is nowhere close to get anything so come prepared!

Stayed one night
By user-5787239... on 2018-07-06.
We stayed here one night sept. 2017, the park is overall nice , the campground itself is little to be desired . Very narrow curvy roads lots of trees to try to avoid , campsites very unlevel & difficult to get into . The host told me improvements are coming soon .

This was our first trip with our travel trailer! The weather was far from perfect, but the newly updated sites made it bearable. We had severe weather with tornadoe warnings, park ranger was very quick to ensure we took shelter and checked on us afterwards. Easy access, WIFI was ok, bathrooms and showers are ok. Overall good experience with the park and we'll be back hopefully with better weather to enjoy the fishing and trails.

One of the best

Make reservations! Since renovations the park fills up fast on weekends.
IF YOU ARE A NEWCOMER TO THE RV FAMILY PLEASE PRACTICE YOUR BACKING SKILLS BEFORE ARRIVING HERE. This park was founded in 1937 long before the term "big rig", however 40 foot units can be accommodated. I advise you study the reservation page as to which site can accommodate your rig.
The sites and roads are smooth blacktop, tables, firepits and grills on each site.
You'll might need 20 plus feet of sewer hose for FHU.
The ADA campsites are completely concrete and level.
Ample access to the dump station.
I had slow and weak 4g reception(Verizon).

We had reservations but due to the recent weather we were moved to the wrangler camp. Our site was a muddy mess. The water and electric were not positioned well for the site. Bathhouse clean.

Great place to camp and swim
By user-4783115... on 2019-08-09.
This was one of my favorite trips so far. We had an amazing time at this campsite and everyone was very friendly. We actually ended up having to move spots due to the one we had first not having enough power for our 50 amp hookup. The campsite hosts stepped right in and found us another spot that actually wasn't even supposed to be open at the time but knew we really wanted to stay and understood that with 2 small children we needed to have our power. We took a long hike one day, fishing on a paddle boat one day, enjoyed some of the little shows that the park ranger did with owls and snakes, spent lots of time swimming and of course the kiddos lives playing at the park. We will definitely be visiting this place again soon.
