The wife and I just returned from a 4 night stay here ( Monday-Thursday). The state has recently converted 12 of the sites from tent sites to full hookup sites with 50/30/20amp service. The gravel parking pads on all 12 sites are long enough for any big rig plus there is a gravel tent pad with fire ring and picnic table on each site. There is also 3 cabins that will sleep 6 with ac and heat but no cooking or inside water. There are 30 camping sites plus the 3 cabins. All sites are shady. Streets are paved and there is a centrally located bathhouse. There are walking trails in the park, fishing in the nearby Neuse River and a 11 acre swim lake with a grass beach and swimming in season. Firewood and ice available on site and a nice visitors center. The park entrance is locked at either 8 or 9 pm depending on the season. The campground will close down sometime this year (2018) to tear down and build a new bathhouse. The current bathhouse is open but was damaged in January when the plumbing froze.

Flat gravel spots, full hookups, fire ring, clean bathrooms, good hiking, staff very friendly and accommodating all at a reasonable price
