Reviews for Desert Willow RV Park

| Not bad

By user-5796407... on 2017-10-23.

Stayed one night for Escapees price of $14 with a credit card otherwise could've saved a dollar with cash! Gravel spots all level, clean but not much there. Only downside was dog gates would not close and neighborhood had a few stray dogs so had to be aware of them while walking your dog(s)! Otherwise not bad for an overnight stay. Also convenient to Interstate!

We stayed longer then planned. Extra clean bathrooms, hot showers with nice soap even. The owners are very nice and take good care. The Wi-Fi was the best we have found on ours travels so far. Would come back and stay again and again.

Stopped overnight at this quiet little park on 1-26-18. $14.00 with Passport America, showers were hot, roomy and clean. The WIFI was the strongest we have encountered lately. The best feature was the after 5pm office staff. I didn't catch her name but she made us feel at home. We will stop again!

| Great place to stay for a few days

After boondocking my way across Texas, I wanted to have shore power and cable for Super Bowl Sunday, and I also wanted to see Guadalupe Mountains and Carlsbad Caverns NPs. Van Horn is probably about the closest town to those two parks. I chose this RV park because of the reviews and price and it did not disappoint. They have about 50 spaces, all full hookups, with free cable and Wi-Fi. The town itself is small but has just about anything you’d need. The only con is the train horn that sounds all through the day and night.

| Ok for an overbite stop if noise doesn’t bother

Nice staff. FHU on packed dirt parking lot. Sandwiches between I10, the main road they town and the train track. Lots of noise but I think all the parks around here are about the same.

| Good overnight stay

Nice flat dirt sites with 30/50 amp service. Friendly staff, good wifi, free cable. Did not try showers or laundry. Price of 13.50 for passport America.

Clean, reasonable price with all amenity clean and functional. I even got used to the train whistle. A&A Repair shop was a life saver.

This is a smallish park with two “areas”. The sites near the office are a bit shorter and more cramped. Once you pass through an opening in the fence there are longer sites which feel a little more open. There is no privacy, no trees. Sites are gravel/grass and kept in decent shape. Our site was perfectly level. There is a nice man that checks you in and then you are free to pick a site of your choosing. The park is between train tracks and the interstate so don’t expect a quiet night. We parked in the area furthest from the office and were not able to use the WII FI. Directv satellite worked fine.

| Second year staying here - We love it

If you don’t like trains and whistles, beware! This IS a railroad town! Thank God they still exist! And it was my families livelihood and my Dad’s retirement. Love hearing those old whistles! They helped make America! For a clean, accommodating park, Super fast WiFi, dog run, laundry, great staff and good pull through lots, look no further. Passport America they offer great rates! You can pick your own spot. Whenever in the area, we would look no further. Honest, clean, accommodating with good services! We like the pull throughs with the little trees on the office side, but across the street offers nice pulls throughs with lots of space, just more open. Thank you to all the staff who has made year number 2’s visit another great one!

This was a great place to stay overnight, some train noise but not bad, showers were clean & hot, laundry was very nice too, 1.50 per load, not bad. Owner was very kind. We would stay here again.

Finding the Desert Willow RV Park on RV Parky was a bonus as I had been contemplating the lot behind McDonalds. Escapee discounted rate for Cable, WiFI, and FHU, hot showers and laundry facilities. For a few bucks I opted for the security and conveniences. Within walking distance to the Cactus Cantina which was another treat to end the evening with a couple of margaritas.

| Good deal, great WiFi

Nice property, well kept, beautiful and clean bathrooms, excellent WiFi. Friendly staff.

Great clean wide RV spots. Passport America prices $12.50. Great cable TV that work with at least 50 channels. Propane distributor across the street.

What's not to like? The Passport America rate was $13.50 and .50 cents more for using a credit card. So, I paid a grand total of $14 for a large, level space with full hook-ups, easy access from I-10, a nice and warm (it was freezing outside!) tile restroom, and a whopping 52(!) Cable channels to help pass a cold evening. I've paid triple that and not received half as much. The manager was nice and laid back. They even had a small dog run. Lazy customers had not picked up after their dogs, ruining a good thing, but, hey, I didn't expect a dog run anyway. I always chuckle when people stay beside a train track and then complain about the train noise, especially in the west where the railroad is everywhere. You are hereby informed there is a train track, so don't stay here and then complain about it. Same goes for interstate noise. You can't have it both ways - stay near I-10, easy on & easy off, then gripe about road noise. Actually, we couldn't hear any Interstate noise.

| Outstanding, can't beat the price

Excellent Wi-Fi, level spots, $25 night. Full hookups. Laundry, clean showers, normal western train noise, fenced in dog run. Vey laid back. We stopped here due to other reviews, normally we boondock yet not much around. We liked it so much, we stayed 5 nights. Place is so tidy and aesthetically pleasing. A must for anyone passing through.

Such an easy place in and out and well located. When I arrived, the lady I met was very helpful and friendly. So two thumbs up from me.

Although the park is older the bathrooms/showers have been update very nicely. Lots of hot water and clean. We did not hear any trains during the night and not really much highway noise. Several new hotels and a new McDonalds. Seems like the town is being revived. Kind gentleman at checkin. Would definately stay here again.

Easy on & off. Really did not hear the train or the highway traffic. Perfect for one night. There are full hook-ups, over 50 cable channels. They have free wifi but we were too far from the office to get it to work. They have restrooms & a laundry room but we did not use them. There is also a small dog area - be careful about "stickers" at the dog park. Will stay there again on our way to Tucson.

| Disappointed

By user-5297152... on 2019-08-09. Stayed 2019-04-29 to 2019-04-29

Stopped because of all the good reviews. But this place was very disappointing. It's cheap which must be why the good reviews. But its also strangely run. Woman in the office gave us rhe passport america rate without bothering to check on our membership. Then seemed surprised I asked for a receipt after giving her cash. Didnt notice until later that on the receipt she said our balance due was $13.50. Should have been zero since I paid. It didnt matter because we didnt stay. After looking around and feeling this place would be very dark at night and not safest place to stay, we just left.

| Satisfactory Park for an Overnight

By user-5429620... on 2019-08-09. Stayed 2019-07-14 to 2019-07-15

Satisfactory park to stop for an overnight. The person checking us in was very pleasant. We did not want to hook up so we were told too stay in the lot across the street and choose any site we want. There were lots of spots to choose from. We pulled in to #42 through another site behind it basically taking up two spots. The water and electric hookups worked fine. We did not connect to the sewer or the cable. This park supplied all of our needs for the night and was reasonably priced. Tip: There is a Valero's fuel station across the street. Diesel was .10 cheaper than Loves.
