Reviews for Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

| Dogs vs. no dogs

If you DON'T want to be in a pet loop spot, you must upgrade to a preferred campsite, which costs more. We didn't know this until we were already settled in. Neighbor kept a Great Dane in an outside crate all day while they were at the parks. The poor dog barked its head off all day. Rules state this behavior is not allowed. When we complained to two staff members (general store and at front desk), nobody seemed to care and the behavior continued. Other than the barking dog, the area was beautiful and well kept. Lots of activities for young and old alike. Wonderfully clean.

Beautiful place. Clean and well maintained. It's a big campground with internal buses - pretty slow. They have a nice pool at the Meadows area as well as a campfire sing along, marshmallow roast and movie for the kids. My grandkids seemed to like it better than the parks. Looking forward to returning.

Staying here was the best cost effective way to go. All the benefits of staying at a resort (i.e. fast pass access) with just only half the price. There are no streetlights around the lots so it gets really dark, especially if U plan on going to the bath house at night. Everything else is just what you would come to expect from Disney.

By user-5785961... on 2017-10-23.

This place is great! Easy access to in-park transportation via Disney bus or water transportation (free) to the Magic Kingdom, lakeside resorts (Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, etc.) or transfers to other parks. Plenty to do in the campground itself: bonfires, bbq's, entertainment, restaurants, etc. Be aware though, if you want to take your dog(s) you MUST reserve a spot in one of the "Pet Loops".

What's not to love; it's Disney + camping! Disney does it right.. Plenty of shade, nice pads & clean grounds.. Perfection. We've camped here many times!

| A must for any camper/Disney fan

By user-5274288... on 2017-10-23.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground is beyond nice, everything from checking in to the Magic Kingdom fireworks on the beach at night is magical as is everything Disney. Large nice sites, friendly staff, tons of things to do, from bike riding canoeing to the nightly campfire sign along. "A great place to get lost."

Clean, level, comfortable and affordable. Many transportation options to shuttle to the Disney parks. Bring your bicycles or rent a golf cart but plan on spending 4 days or more to truly enjoy this resort campground. Campers decorate their sites for the holidays.

From the Check in to the Check out , ALL the staff try so very hard to make your stay Magical. We travel with 3 of our dogs, JRTs, & they had more than enough room to explore around the huge, paved campsite. Between the sites there are trees & shrubs that make your site private. We stayed on the pet loop (1900s) & never had any issues with other pet. The comfort station was close & was always clean, with endless hot water. Even did a couple of lots of laundry & had great conversations with the other campers. Transportation to anywhere in Disney World was only steps away & once we knew the 14 minute intervals for the bus schedule we could time things quite easily. Truly enjoyed the boat rides to Magic Kingdom. We took in the Hoop Dee Doo Revue ... It was a fun time but we had the 8:30 sitting & it seemed to be very rushed ... The only rushed dining experience we had. We are already planning our next trip & stay ... When I retire in a few years, to see & explore everything that we were not able to see on this trip

Quiet, clean, premium sites are roomy, staff is great, bus to anywhere you want to go....

| Great time, a little cramped though.

By user-5625813... on 2017-10-23.

This place is massive! The designer must not of had an RV or children or pets but everything is there for comfort. Roads are very tight in the loops and leave no room for all the golf carts, bikers and dog walkers when vehicles come through, slow way down. Other than that, there is everything here. If you bring your furry family members make sure you ask for the dog loop, it's across from a nice dog park. Cable, good water pressure, very clean and roomy facilities. Bring your own table and tent if planning to cook and eat at your site, there is no covered tables gazebos anywhere in Fort Wilderness and it rains quite frequently. We had 12 family members meet from all over the US and we seriously had an awesome time!

| Nice, friendly and well integrated to Disney

We haven't been to Ft. Wilderness since the early 90s. We only live 45 minutes away, but don't come to the Disney parks. We decided to try the Fort, and it is as nice as we remembered. Now, it's busy and bustling for sure, with tons of families & kids, but that's what Disney's about. It's not inexpensive, but that's Disney, also. The check-in was the easiest we've ever had. You drive thru and don't get out of your RV or vehicle. We were able to easily back in to site, which was FHU, 50 amp, concrete, and level. CG was clean. There was room for 2 vehicles to park at the site. WiFi worked well, and cable had plenty of channels. Transportation to all the parks/resorts is provided, but there's a lot to do within the CG as well. We went to Disney Springs, but plan to come back in the fall and go to EPCOT & Animal Kingdom. We camped in a 40' motorhome.

Simply the finest. This place is so spread out you will want to rent a golf cart to get around. There is no car parking at the pool, dog park, Hoop De Do review etc but there is golf cart parking at all those places. Disney carts can be reserved in advance and I suggest you do so. We would love to return,

| The Best

By user-5785783... on 2017-10-23.

The Fort is the campground that we judge all others by. The maintenance and care this place receives is excellent. All loop roads are vacuumed daily, trash is picked up multiple times a day, the restrooms are spotless. Maintenance supervisors check the comfort stations several times a day to see if additional cleanings need to be done. Everything works as it should, since Disney does most everything with in house crews, any maintenance needed is done quickly and professionally. As mentioned, some of the loop roads are narrow and difficult to back into, due to vehicles parked too close to the roads. Even though there are over 800 RV sites, the way it is laid out, gives a sense of a smaller place. As Florida residents we come here often and bring our young grandsons. There is so much to do at the campground, we often will skip going to the parks some days.

As expected from Disney! Organized, clean, quite. We stayed in the 200 area, close walk to boat to the Magic Kingdom. In park bus system and you can drive your car to the bus area to get in the buses that go to the other parks. No need at all to spend $62+ a day for a golf cart rental! Also no need to check out, it’s all automatic! Fast pass is great, nobody told us after you use your 3passes, you can then do more , one at a time! Really good experience!

| Worth It

By user-5230348... on 2018-03-14.

Yes it is expensive, but the place is superbly maintained, the location is close to the Disney theme parks, and the campground itself has lots of activities and amenities.

This was our first stay here and we loved it!!! Clean, level, and spacious spots. We were in the 1700 loop and it had the bath house/Laundry right across from us. Also a short walk to bus stop. Many sites were decorated beautifully for Christmas. Can’t wait to come back.

| Best campground around

We stay at this campground at least 3 times a year. Come here in the spring, fall and winter. The price as above average, but transportation to any Disney location is included. From Disney springs and magic kingdom to Epcot, animal kingdom and Hollywood studios. The experience is worth the price.

Dogs cost $5 additional a night, you don't know that until you check in. Ultra clean facility, its a Walt Disney property !! Wide, level paved lots, plenty of shade, plenty of walking trails. Everyone is great as all are attending theme parks. Transportation is provided. Evening campfires, songs and group activities, although no pets allowed in these areas.

| Great campground

By user-6117438... on 2018-05-17.

This is a great campground. The pools and water park for toddlers is awesome! The sites are very nice! You get bus service to all the Disney parks! So much to do here you need more than a week!

By user-5829458... on 2018-05-17. Stayed 2018-05-09 to 2018-05-13

Was NOT a good experience from check in to check out. They failed to give us our bands, parking pass, and important details such as there is NO parking anywhere on site for the pools, restaurants, or dog park unless you have a golf cart. We were in the 1900 loop which was to far to walk to any of the “amenities”. Lots of wasted time waiting on buses to be shuttled elsewhere to wait for another bus. $124 (excluding resort fees and taxes) will get you a room at some of the other Disney resorts. When you enter the fort it looks promising and what you would expect for a Disney property only to find the campsites to be small and poorly maintained. Bottom line .. plan to rent a golf cart if you decide to stay here.

I was a DVC member and sold our timeshare for a RV this is by far the best deal in Disney world. Great security a short boat ride to the MK and the buses are always coming by its pricey but worth the expense

| Nice but a few issues

By user-unknown on 2019-08-09. Stayed 2019-02-14 to 2019-02-16

We heard this was the best place ever so maybe we were overly optimistic. First issue is the parking. You are so on top of each other that we had a very hard time backing in to our spot. Way too tight. Then we found out the dog park is closed indefinitely...it was one of the main reasons we booked this spot. Also you need an adapter for cable - it s not plug and go. This place is clean and well kept and the busing system to the parks is awesome. We d come back but it s not heaven.

By user-6732884... on 2019-08-09.

We are a french family of 5 and it was a good place to park our rv of 26'. Good place to visit Disney park with the free shuttles in bus or boat. We have take the smaller place because the price is cheapest (around 100$ by night...! ) But everythings was perfect and clean. We stay here 2 days more to visit also Universal studio because it was more easy for us to take our motorhome from here(30mn). Enjoy the cool and nice sensation in this place We'll be back
