Both of the previous reviews are partially correct. First off we live in the area and stay here during Fair week. I was shocked to see that they offer RV camping during any other time of the year. In 16 years of living in the area, I have never heard of anyone staying at the fair grounds other than for an event. Out of curiosity, I clicked on the link for RV camping at the fair grounds. I have no idea where those pictures came from but they are NOT of the Placerville Fair grounds. Don't show up expecting to find anything resembling those pictures posted on the website.
I think that the previous review is confusing and should be removed. I just made a reservation today (10 Sept.) for two nights (29 & 30 Sept.) at the EDCF with no trouble at all. They are open for camping but perhaps not at all times based on the events occurring there. The woman I spoke with was very helpful and polite. Just call and see...
We've stayed twice in a 40' 5th wheel. We've lived here 15 years and come back to visit family each year. The "campground" is just an old, small parking lot surrounded by an old facilities shed and an old rundown portable building. You have to drive past other better kept portables to get to it. The water is fine, the electric is sketchy. There are gates and we feel safe there. $40 is just ridiculous for what you get. I'd expect $20. They say they are upgrading it, but it hasn't changed in years except for the price which keeps going up!
Staff was very friendly. Grounds were clean. Showers had great water pressure. We travel with 3 cats, so running the AC was a plus for us. We stayed during the week. Truck Pulls scheduled for the weekend, we won t be staying for that.
