This little campground is far enough from Shenandoah National to avoid most of the crazy city crowds. It's a great little place with small sites suitable for smaller RVs, truck campers, and tents. It's right on the water and the historic area has some fascinating interpretive exhibits (pig iron smelting). There are several trail networks in the area. The campground itself has no hookups or electric, but there is potable water, a sewer dump, pit toilets, and one central bathroom with electricity and model toilets/sinks. They have horseshoe pits in the central portion of the campground and an ampitheatre between the campground and rec area. Limited cell service in parts of the campground, mainly restricted to 3G. Gates are closed for the night and there's a host on site at the entrance. Since it's nestled between ridgelines, it stays a little cooler. Busy on the weekends and it's first come first served.
