Reviews for Elk City / Clinton KOA

| Too close to the highway

By user-5841175... on 2017-10-23.

My 30 amp site cost $42. The place is old, but everything worked, and it has nice, mature shade trees. Unfortunately, the noise from the interstate is relentless.

This is a nice stay for a night or longer. The management is great and keep this park in good condition. Has fuel and propane on site. Also homemade pies.

If you have pets or want to walk around barefoot, do not stay here as the other reviews have said. Burrs everywhere! Stuck in both dogs feet. It was pretty empty but the pads are close together so I can see where you would feel packed in if they were busy.

Great place to stop and rest. Clean with a nice dog run. Also easy night check-in.

| Very nice camp!

By user-5801025... on 2017-10-23.

After reading the reviews, we really were not expecting much...but we were pleasantly surprised. The grounds were neat, utilities worked fine, sites were level, pool was nice, laundry was fine. It even has a small lounge where you can enjoy pizza, wings, salads, etc. We order pizza to take to our unit for dinner and it was good! The little store has a nice selection of cards, postcards, souvenirs, tshirts, a few RV supplies, ice and some food items..even ice cream. The sites were shaded and there was a large dog run area with a swing in it for you to enjoy the cooing of the doves and watch your pups run around in plenty of space to exercise. There is a tiny dog run closer up to the front, don't think that is the only one! Our dogs did not get a single burr! Not sure where other dogs went but ours were fine. It is a bit older campground but we were very pleased with it...after all it is directly on the Historic Route 66! Very easy to find, road noise was not an issue for us in our unit and the camp was quiet after 9. We camped in a fifth wheel beside the pool. We will return.

| No HOT water

By user-5385038... on 2017-10-23.

Stayed only one night. The bath house didn't have hot water. Twisting the knob only produced air that was present in the line. Plenty of cold water though. All I really needed was electric. No problem there.

| Very good stop over

Nice folks, nice camp store and on site restaurant. Paved sites with grass, typical KOA size lots. 2 dog runs, one with a lot of room for big dogs. I would stop again of in the area. 32ft Jaco class A.

| New Ownership

The park recently got new owners and has had some renovation. The playground was refreshed, the trees have been trimmed, we swam in the pool. We didn't do aundry but it looked clean, the back showers water took awhile to heat up and was limited, prob because a few people had showered prior to me. We had their breakfast before heading out and all was satisfied with their meals. The staff was friendly.

Not the worst place to stay but definitely not the best. Sights are close together. They said it was all asphalt sights but what they didn't tell you was the asphalt has some large pot holes you need to avoid. Will stay here again only if we have to.

| Ok

By user-6238113... on 2017-10-23.

We stayed one nite with MH.....it was hot and all the 50 amp service sites were full....available power on one leg dropped to 106, causing our EMS to shut down......not a happy camper.....after a couple of hours the service rose to 112 on one leg of the 50 amp and 119 on the other... Maintenance guy did not know what a 50 amp service provided.... Campground still needs some serious upgrades...however the site we had was long enough for our MH and towed PU, was partially shaded and level. Staff was friendly. Easy off and on from I-40.

We stayed here in July for one night. The staff were friendly, but the park needs some TLC. The trees need to be trimmed higher to keep them off RV's. The sites are "rustic" but the hookups were convenient and worked well. The trees at our site were so low they hit the top,of our coach, and were a worry when we pulled out. Keep a saw handy if you get a low hanging tree at your site. We might stay here again if we are ever in this area, but we would certainly make sure our site had trees which were high enough to clear our coach.

Stayed 2 nights. Close to highway so easy access. Had laundry facilities, small game room with billard table. Washrooms were clean but older. We didnt use the restaurant but very helpful staff when checking in. $44.75/night without KOA kamper discount. Even though it had rained the past few days, the park wasn't overly muddy. Watch out for red ants on the sites. Nice walk to lake close by from the campground.

| Good for a stop over

By user-5326444... on 2019-08-09. Stayed 2019-04-18 to 2019-04-19

This is not a fancy KOA but it worked well for a one night stop over. Because we were there for only one night, I would have liked to kept my 5th wheel attached but the sites weren't level enough to do that . I would stop again if I was passing through.

Traveling with two of our granddaughters and was fortunate to stop at this great KOA park. They placed us right next to the pool which was perfect for the girls to go swimming as soon as we landed. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Would choose this place again the next time we travel across #I-40.
