Free camping in Lamesa
By user-5052618... on 2017-10-23.
Free for 4 nights stay. Easy to access from the hwy. Water and hydro. Feels safe. Nice park location. Sites aren't easy to access for low bumpers. No pull through sites.

This is a great place for a stop IF you can find it. It is off of SOUTH 10th. You have to turn off of business 87 at the gin. The Google maps kept taking us to 10th.
Easy in and out but no pull thrus as listed. It is in the forest city park.
Great for an overnight stop. And the price is right free..

Free stay
By user-5857982... on 2017-10-23.
Spent 1 night here. Free electric and water. The park is nice and it's set up for Frisbee golf. There was a kids softball tournament and a 5k race so it was quite noisy. But the price couldn't be beat. Thanks .

Be cautious

We decided not to stay here, although it looked nice and might have been fine. The surrounding area is quite depressed and although it was dusk, we didn’t see any lights but a couple of kids were hanging out which made us uneasy. It looks like the town is trying to improve this neighborhood, and kudos for that. Be aware that Google Maps is wrong. Stay N on 137. The park is on your right just before 8th Street. Google shows that 8th goes through but the town has recently built ball fields and closed off 8th.

Forget the other reviews. It’s because just before you get to the park there is a very run down RV park and the area is depressed. But if you go inside the park west of the community center you will see it. Also no one bothers to put up photos. So the photos of the park and the red Winnebago are mine. So much better than the abandoned Walmart.

As stated before, nice spot with free electricity and water. 4 day stay allowed for free, $20 a day after that according to the sign. Watch out for the foxtails/spear grass if you have dogs.

Although free, noisy traffic in a run-down area
By user-unknown on 2019-08-09.
The park itself is large and nice to be in for our dog, but the traffic cutting through the park on the road right in front of the "campsite" is no fun. There is a laundromat a few blocks away that is the dirtiest place to clean clothes I had ever been in. The side of town these accommodations are in is questionable and only 3 electrical boxes worked for hookups amongst the 8 or so parking spaces. We prefer a quieter spot in a better area.

Great for free!

We're very grateful to the city for providing a safe place to stay free of charge.

Great overnight spot!
By user-5204580... on 2019-08-09.
Pulled into here around 4pm. Two rv's here. 10 spots available. Water and electric. Sure you drive thru a diverse neighborhood but doesn't mean these people are bad. Felt safe. Saw law enforcement drive by. A nice place to overnight and it's FREE.

This is a great overnight spot. 10 spots for free. Water and electric there is a dump an odd brick structure out on the road. We have missed it the last few times we have stopped here.
