Reviews for Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground

| Not the best park for beginners

We are on our maiden voyage in our first camper... A 5th wheel. The park is decent with lots of space but the road is really bumpy and some of the sites are horrible for newbies! Not all sites were bad but some along the back side of area J were bad. Avoid sight 480 if possible! It had a steep incline on one side of the pull through so backing the truck up to the hitch was difficult. When pulling out of our site our tailgate hit the underside of the camper due to the steepness of the site. The hook ups were all over the place as well. Water hook up was in the middle of the neighbors campsite and the electric hook up was on the opposite side of the camper where the cord comes out. We did happen to get the last site with full hookups so betters can't be choosers. We'd come back to the park so long as we could get a more flat and level site. It was nice and quiet and the kids enjoyed riding their bikes around the park and playing at the playground!

Great RV park. Big, super friendly staff/visitors, lots of trees, great museum. Nice lake you can fish in without permit since it's on their property. 4 stars, because the woman's showers were horrible. Out of 4 only 1 was working properly. That one had no water pressure. Also, super tiny!

We stayed here through the winter and continue to come back to stay. Awesome park host and great family owned park that will help with any needs or desires. Close to Colorado Springs and main "must see" places. Campground has a lake and is across from Fort Carson. Beautiful scenery 360 degrees at this campground.

| Nice campground

Plenty of space. Office closes at 6 pm. but we called ahead and the staff assigned us a site before we arrived. There are fireplaces and tables for most (all?) sites. It was pretty quiet (mid May).

Nice campground. We stayed in a 40' fifth wheel. A little tricky to park and get it level. We enjoyed our time and would definitely love to go back again.

| Loved the Rustic Colorado Feel

We stayed here 6 nights. Initially booked a standard 50amp site but the lady at checkin advised the site we had selected would likely not be good - our rig is a class A with 4 slides. She offered us our choice of a couple others that were available. After driving through we opted to up grade to a “deluxe” site which is really 2 side by side sites - was way more than we needed but was nice none the less. Loved being off the highway and the only noise at night other than the owls hooting and crickets chirping was the horns at sunup and sundown at Fort Carson which is down the mountain and across the street. Only negative and what kept us from giving this 5 stars is the water connections. Seems they have chosen to dig a 8”x8”x8” hole for the connection pipe and chose not to fill it or put a cover over it. Thus you have to be very careful when out walking as not to break a leg. I mentioned it to the maintenance man and his solution was to put an orange cone on the one right outside our door.

This place is back off the 115 on a small dead end road. Glad they had signs it is back off the highway. Very quiet. We got in late and ended up with the 30amp since the person who shared took the 50amp. Sites are fairly level, some treed sites. Con is the dirt pads, it did rain so a tad messy. Would stay again.

We traveled over 6,000 miles over the summer and stayed at many campgrounds. This one was expensive for what you get, $53/night. Everything is dirt and sites are not level. We pulled into our site and were excited because it had trees on both sides, but wondered why our neighbor was hooked into our electric box. Come to find out two sites share one box and it s first come first serve for the 50amp. We were able to move so we were first to the 50amp, but had no shade. No grass, it s all weeds. The fishing pond looks like a swamp. The 3 stars is because it was secluded and quite and our spot was right across from the playground so that was nice for our kids. The site had plenty of room for our 40ft motorhome and vehicle. They also provided us with 2 extension cords so we could reach the electric box. If you are coming to the area to go see all the sites around Colorado Springs this might be a good park, but not somewhere I enjoyed spending my weekend.

| Would not recommend

This campground is out of the city enough to feel remote yet close enough to be convenient to all the attractions we wanted to take in during our planned 3 night stay. We were aghast, however, when we drove in to settle into our spot, at the condition of the interior roads and the sites. Sites were not only unlevel, but rutted and sometimes even inaccessible by our 38ft MH. We would have bottomed out had we attempted to park in the site we had been assigned. The staff was very accommodating in getting us into a different site, but only offered sites that were available the full span of our stay. It scared us to think what would have happened if we had been there during a busy time. We did find a site and sat back and watched as other RVs came in and experienced the same issues. When was the last time you had to use a level pad to level the picnic table! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Colorado Springs, but would never recommend this park especially at the premium rate we were charged $52/night FHU.

| Overpriced for nothing

The people can't keep your site reserved she call 2 hrs before we arrived to change our site. The road going up the hill to the camp needs to be widening two rig can't pass each other on it the roads in the campground could be scaped and level. They seem to push the so called deluxe site that is sitting on the steepest hill they have. It was close to Colorado Springs but it isn't worth the price.

| Campground is poor, but the museum rocks.

The campground was the only on around not full so we stayed. The campground is on a hill with sites at different levels and VERY FEW level. We tried thre before finding one that would work for two nights. The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful. The condition of the roads (dirt) was poor and them and the sites needed grading BAD! I am sure Ethel recent rains hurt them but no excuse for the conditions. The good thing is the family has an ENORMOUS bug collection started by their elder member. That was VERY COOL. I raise my rating to 3 stars for that alone, otherwise a low 2 stars.
