| Worst state park I've ever visited

By user-6469326... on 2017-10-23.

My wife and I have been travelling the states all summer long, staying almost exclusively in state parks, and I have to say this place was a massive disappointment. It cost us $88 to stay for four nights in a site that had electricity but no water or sewer. Pretty pricey for close to primitive camping. On top of that they charge a change vehicle fee of $7 per vehicle PER DAY! I don't know if this is normal for Colorado state parks but it was a shocker after staying in great parks in New Mexico, Texas. So now for four nights were looking at a total $144 in a spot where I have to lug bottles of water back and forth to do my dishes and walk a ways or drive to take a shower. OH YA and they charge a dollar in quarters per minute of water in the shower house! What a joke! It seems like a good place to tent camp but I would not stay here again and I recommend you avoid it for any long stays or if you travel with multiple vehicles.

We love Golden Gate Canyon State Park. The park is clean and well maintained. Yes, you need a State Park pass or pay day use fee, that's standard in CO. You can not beat the views anywhere. Go to the senic overlook to see the mountain range of the great divide.
