Reviews for Goose Island State Park

| Very nice Park

Stayed three nights under the massive oak trees which was very shady but cut the sea breeze so humidity seemed even worse. Beautiful sites in the trees though. Washrooms and showers are alright but they are showing their age Friendly and helpful park staff. Wifi hotspots are warm spots at best.

If you get there early enough, that is! It's still a great bargain no matter where in the park you stay! If you want the 24 or so bayfront sites you will have to get there early, maybe even the day before your booked date. Really! It first come, first served. You may have to settle for a lesser site and check out who's leaving. Then run down to check in and make the change. But for $22 a night? It's a top notch fishing, wading, nature park! It has a 400 foot fishing pier too! They CALL it a 'lighted' pier but it's actually a pier with street lights on it., not big lights over the water! Still, a nice place to fish and R E L A X!!!

We stayed on the bay for 3 weeks and really enjoyed it here. Friendly staff and if there is anything wrong they take care of it ASAP. Lots of wildlife and gorgeous sunsets.

Excellent rv sites on shore with shelter, power & water hookup. Table & grille. Nice bathrooms & showers at shore. Inland camping under the oaks, older facilities. Good boat launch, lots of fishing & birds. Whooping Crane area.

The sites in the woods are pretty, but they are very tight to get into with a 30' fiver. They need trimming badly, as there are lots of vines and low overhanging branches. In defense of GISP, they are hamstrung on how much they can trim by the powers that be in the environmental world. The office told me that they cannot even mow without notifying said authorities. Nice folks and a pretty park!

Realizing that the area is still recovering from Hurricane Harvy it looks pretty good. Not much tree cover or privacy, but the are doing their best. We stayed there the first week They were open, so things are a bit rough. The bathrooms need a bit of scrubbing. The feeding stations for the birds was awesome. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The fishing pier and all Bayfront Area campsites (1-44) are closed, due to significant hurricane damage. The Group Rec. Hall is closed through August 2019. RV sites are quite spacious and well separated from each other. Sites have 50 amp power and water, but no sewer. There is at least one dump station in the park. Bathrooms with showers are clean and well maintained. The only real issue we had was they had experienced several consecutive days of rain so there was standing water on the hiking trail and the mosquitos were really fierce everywhere. Drive carefully because there are a lot of deer in the park. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly.

We stayed one night on a trip from Galveston island to Padre Island. The staff was pleasant, the site was level, the bathroom and showers were well stocked and clean. Only problem was mosquitos, a few. Nice park.
