Reviews for Heartland RV Park

| Ok for overnight...

By user-6206083... on 2017-10-23.

This park is feet from a busy, noisy highway. If this park were located most other places it would be topnotch, but the location was really bad for sleeping. Small trees, gravel spots, Wi-Fi was good, electric and water. I paid $21 for a spot without sewer. Some of he spots are a long hike to the bathhouse.

| Nice park large sites

By user-5805963... on 2017-10-23.

Very nice helpful employees, large sites with grass but no shade. Good Wi-Fi, poor cable. Clean showers and bathrooms, good laundry facilities. Great dog areas. Would have got 5 stars but a little too much highway noise and poor cable.

| Great Place

Great place to have a cool one

| Stayed here a week

By user-5858017... on 2017-10-23.

They honor Passport for at least a week (that is as long as we stayed) so per night rate is $22. Great people manning the nice office and good camp store. Excellent bathrooms and laundry, cable TV and adequate Wifi. FHU lots are large enough to open slides and awning. Very busy campground but well maintained. It is next to highway and the trucks are loud but it did not bother us inside with AC....other than road noise this is a quiet campground. Very near Custer State Park, and easy day trip to Crazy Horse and Mt Rushmore monuments, and Custer City and Keystone. Rapid City is slightly north and easy in and out. Glad we stayed here instead of pricer campgrounds inside Cluster State Park or nearer monuments. Open campground with little shade, but level, gravel lots with table and fire rings. Plenty of area to walk pups and has a nice small playground. No pool. We really liked the accessibility to all the local sites at a great price. We camped in a fifth wheel.

| Nice stay

By user-5866012... on 2017-10-23.

Good park, great staff, easy sites to get into with 45' motor home towing a trailer. No road noise at night.

| Close to everything but still away from rat race

By user-5858017... on 2017-10-23.

We stayed here a week. It is a busy campground. It is directly on Hwy 79, so if road noise bothers you....look somewhere else. But this is a neat and clean, well run campground. Bathrooms are spotless. FHU, picnic tables and fire rings at each site. Room to put out you awnings ...but usually too breezy. Nice office and camp store...great people working there. All pull thru sites. We would return...we stayed in a fifth wheel.

| Eh, not bad

By user-6211592... on 2017-10-23. Stayed 2015-08-18 to 2015-08-25

Kind of a parking lot next to the highway feel to this place. The septic field stunk up half the park - thankfully we were parked on the other side. Lots of highway noise and not a tree to be found, so no shade. Pool, laundry were nice and clean. Wifi was very good. We stayed for a week. On our morning to leave we were hassled terribly by an employee because we were still there 45 minutes after checkout time, which is 11:00 apparently. A bit earlier than we are used to as most parks have a check out of at least noon, so it was truly an innocent mistake and the guy was VERY rude. Not sure I would stay again.

Easy to get in and out with 38 fifth wheel. Spotless laundry although it was a little pricier than some. Our grassy area was very uneven- came close to spraining ankle a couple of times. Dog area full of thorns and just north of park is sewage lagoon. Enjoy evening breeze!

| Enjoyed our stay

By user-5804340... on 2017-10-23. Stayed 2015-08-19 to 2015-08-26

We stayed for 7 nights. We visited Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, Badlands, Custer, SD, beautiful town of Keystone, SD, Deadwood, SD, Devils Tower, Sturgis, SD and Rapid City, SD, Wall Drug, and Minuteman Missile Site. Lots to do within driving distance of RV Park. Park very clean and staff very friendly. Enjoyed our stay. Very open.

| NICE PARK

By user-4793745... on 2017-10-23. Stayed 2015-06-13 to 2015-07-06

Well maintained park. Owners are very friendly . Restrooms are the cleanest of any park we have visited. Close to the Black Hill attractions and downtown Rapid City. Little pricey but we used the PA so helped lower cost. Would certainly stay here again if in area.

| Nice park

By user-5375820... on 2017-10-23.

We used this park as a base to visit MT Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Needles hwy and Custer State Park. I only used the laundry that was very clean and new. Sites are a little close but we weren't there much. Wifi kind of slow but as most parks it's fine. AT&T good. Very friendly host. Sturges bike rally was going on so it was very busy.

| Nice for the price

By user-5803019... on 2017-10-23.

A Passport American park with a $25. A night price. Some Hwy noise, but not bad. Close to everything in the park without the reservation hassles. Very clean and well kept

| Very busy great location

By user-5898960... on 2017-10-23. Stayed 2017-07-03 to 2017-09-06

Cram a lot of RV's all sizes into level gravel sites. Most face West into a very hot sun. No shade. No amenities. Most stay a few days and move on. Close to Rushmore and Custer State Park. 4 star bathrooms. For large park they were always clean. Nice staff and good retail store. Wifi weak but very busy place. Fine for where we were.

| Great place

By user-5906990... on 2017-10-23.

Immaculate park, well maintained. You can see the pride taken by the owners. The dog area is huge, probably 2 acres . The power, water, TV and wifi are all good. It's a little pricey. We paid $78 for 3 nights after the PA discount. It's centrally located to all the tourist stuff, but we'll out of the city. We'd come back in a heart beat.

| Nice park undergoing major improvements.

By user-6366574... on 2017-10-23.

Good park with all full hookup pull throughs. Fairly tight spots with small green area. West side has dog walk with parking. Sewer lagoon at north end of park...didn't notice any smell but would think it would be bad at times. Very nice management and accept passport America long term.....would give 4.5 if i could....sites a little small

| Nice camping experience

By anonymous-user on 2017-10-23. Stayed 2015-04-18 to 2015-04-21

Very friendly managers. Large pull through sites with grass and picnic tables at each site. Very clean laundry and bathrooms. Had good experience with wifi and tv. Noise from hwy and train didn't bother us at all. We will return when in the area. Really close to hwy near Mt Rushmore. Park has nice small pool and playground area. No problem parking at all.

| Great place to stay!

By user-5816364... on 2017-10-23.

Was parked in another campground that was way overated & expensive. Assigned us the skid row section. Paid for 3 nights & left after 1. Then came here to a little slice of heaven! Staff was extremely helpful & friendly. Very clean & spacious. Yes, close to highway but never bothered by noise. This is THE place to stay.

| Close sites

By user-4519230... on 2017-10-23.

Sites are close but fairly level; they pack'm in here. Also, some (most?) of the sites are on the short side for a larger class A & toad. The amenities are nice and staff is good. Dispite all the whining, it's not a bad place to stop.

| It was nice and very convenient!

By user-5876722... on 2017-10-23. Stayed 2015-08-21 to 2015-08-24

We stayed 3 nights and had a great experience. Plenty of space for large RV. Facilities are nice. Highway noise but not a problem for us over our A/C noise. No trees. We would stay there again for sure!

| muddy mess

By user-5544439... on 2018-07-06. Stayed 2018-05-22 to 2018-06-22

When I made reservations, I was not told that the park is doubling in size & undergoing extensive grading & construction. The large graded areas are uphill from the existing sites & no erosion control was in place. Every time it rained (frequently) mud would flood the existing sites. The thin layer of gravel in the sites & roads was totally ineffective. My jacks & tires sank into the mud. I was going to fill the propane tank on my way out, but the mud was so bad I couldn't even get to the fill station. Almost every day was very windy & there were no trees to break the wind. Slide toppers & awnings don't last long in this unprotected prairie area!

Enjoyed this park. We were there 5 days through the 4th of July. It was busy but a good variety of campers, cabins, tents. The premium sites seemed good for the longer class A s pulling cars or trailers. Grass area at each site with cable, picnic table, fire rings, water, sewer, and 50 amp ( for us). Tent area seemed nice with bbq grills. Play area was new and still setting up so would have been nice but closed. Beautiful heated pool and hot tub. Staff was very friendly, RV park was very clean showers bathrooms pool area was all kept immaculate they came out on a daily basis to clean out the RV Parks site.

| Awesome location

By user-4931212... on 2019-08-09.

We stayed here 3 nights on Passport America. It was a beautiful park with a nice pool and hot tub. The work campers were awesome. It was a great location to see all the area sites. We would definitely recommend it. They also had a great homemade breakfast each morning for about $5.
