| NO WATER AT ALL FOR RVs

By user-5886513... on 2017-10-23. Stayed 2016-05-14 to 2018-05-16

No RV fill water available. The staff directed me to Brighton SP, an hour round trip and about 25 miles. I took our trailer to Felton instead sit 3 miles and after a half hour I was able to get about 15 gallons from a gas station water/air fill station for 3 dollars. Poison oak is everywhere...firewood was 10 dollars! Staff kinda aloof...Drought is over according to the Gov Brown. Nice area. We stayed two days self contained 26' travel trailer. Four stars for the area beauty.

| Decent, No Hook-up, Spot

By user-6246743... on 2017-10-23.

It's a nice area and if you've never experienced California's redwoods forests I highly recommend it. There's nice trails to hike and a great (short) trail loop with lots of information about the ancient trees, that's at the day use part of the park. The bathrooms and coin-op showers are nice. Each site has it's own fire ring, picnic table and lockable storage cabinet. The road around the sites is paved and our kids enjoyed riding their bikes around. If you're not familiar with poison oak, do yourself a favor and look it up and/or study the posted signs and pictures at the park. There is a great deal of it and it is just about everywhere in the park. Be sure that you can identify the plant when it doesn't have any leaves on it, as it looks like a random stick, but still has the oil that causes a rash. I don't mean to freak anyone out, it's just harder to enjoy yourself when you have an itchy rash. As always, I recommend checking out the park's website and thoroughly checking all info. However, as of this writing (09/18/2014) ALL CA State Parks are a minimum of $35.00 per night. With no power, sewer, or water at any of the sites at this park, it's a little expensive - for us anyway. Near the RV entrance they do have a water hook-up to fill your freshwater tank, though we didn't use it, so I can't comment on water quality. Hope this is helpful to someone. Be well.
