| Great Time in HersheyPark!

By user-6689757... on 2017-10-23. Stayed 2015-06-03 to 2015-06-05

We are planning a trip across the country from PA to CA in our pop up camper and visited the HersheyPark Camping Resort to help get us ready to go. The location was great (a 5 minute free shuttle ride to the park), the campsite was perfect, the bathrooms were very clean and the staff were super friendly! Yes, the train noise isn't desirable, but all-in-all it is a beautiful campground! Site 105 was perfect!!

| Great ... Except for the train ..

I was very impressed as I pulled in to the site . Beautifully landscaped . We backed in to our site , which was a little tight for our 40' 5th wheel . We did managed to get in . Shortly after settling in , we heard the train coming as it was getting louder and louder as it finally was just above us about 50 ' away up on a hill . I thought with the camper closed up and the ac fan running it would drown the noise out . Later that night I found out it was not true . I counted 3 freight trains running in a 1hr. period . I was so sleep deprived I was miserable when we took the kids to Hershey park in the morning . Sat. Was worse than Fri. Night . Next time I will bring ear plugs . Maybe they should entertain building a sound barrier wall like the highways . Then I would give it a 5 star rating .

For starters the name of this campground is now Hersheypark Camping Resort. The street name has changed to Sweet street and the last digit on their phone number has also changed to a 9. So I'm assuming that no ratings have really been added since changes have been made to the grounds (I did put in a correction request to RV Parky). We are from Harrisburg, PA about 8 miles from Hershey. So staying somewhere so close to home was unconventional for us, but we enjoyed every second of it. We own a 40ft 5th wheel and haul it with a 2011 3500 Ram dually. Pros: -check in is a breeze (during peek check in hours staff set up outside about 300 yards or so from the entrance and quickly check you in by walking up to your vehicle with an iPad. - friendly staff - convenient general store with a little of anything you may need - countless amount of recreational activities for children and family. Nice pool, volley and basketball courts, recreation room, several playgrounds, amongst many others -grounds and facilities are very clean. - trash gets picked up by staff from your sight. - we were allowed early check in at no additional cost "you can check in as early as you'd like" (there was no one at our sight the night before) - no limit on the number of people on your site, no additional cost to visitors (aside from -$7 overflow parking fee) all activities on the grounds are open to your visitors at no extra cost. (Visitors have to be off the grounds by 11 otherwise it's considered an overnight stay. But really no one was checking) -Grounds are easy to navigate. It wasn't difficult for us to pull in to our site. (Pioneer Heights site 51c) good amount of green space. - free trolley to and from hershey park every 1/2 hour. Runs from 8a-11p. Park opens an hour early for hershey occupants. -countless amount of things to do in the area off grounds. -grounds feel safe and the area has an extraordinary police department. (Derry Township PD) -open to all campers (tent, pop-up, class a, etc... You name it, they welcome it. Cons: - our site wasn't shaded but we come prepared for that. - bugs. However, we were able to purchase a fogger at the general store that took care of that problem right away. - TRAIN. Let me address this because it's the number one complaint I hear about these grounds....the train does pass by constantly around the clock, unscheduled. However, it passes by quickly and we could hear it but it did not disturb us at all. To summarize our visit we loved our stay, our visitors loved it, the kids all had a blast, and being able to experience the grounds with family led to the convincing of my in laws to purchase their own RV.

| Only if your going to Hershey park

By user-5457977... on 2017-10-23.

No reason to go here other than to go to Hershey park, a little pricey at 60.00 for W & E, train runs all day right by the campground. I saw some poor tenters between the tracks and the dump station. Also charged my wife who meant us later in the evening 6.00 for a car pass

| Dirty campground...

Not only did they not advise me of the loud trains going by every half hour..but the place was filthy..they had to close one pool because of filth..it was disgusting ..so disappointing and they refused to accommodate us..we packed up and left this dump!!

| Not for Class A Coaches

By user-unknown on 2019-08-09. Stayed 2018-10-06 to 2018-10-07

Stopped overnight on route south. Would not recommend for anything larger than smaller campers. Premium site was too small for class a motorhomes. Too short for our toad and extremely close to neighbors. Very expensive for amenities offered, I would not return.

| Large class A stay away

By user-unknown on 2019-08-09. Stayed 2019-05-10 to 2019-05-12

It is just crazy that they let you book with a large class A. If your neighbor decides to use the fire ring the fire is one foot away from your coach. The sewer connection is next to your neighbor picnic table. The electrical boxes are at the entrance of the pull thru making it difficult to turn in your campsite. Was assigned site 172 and would have been impossible to fit our coach. Likely site 171 was available and they switched us to the slightly larger site. These are the premium pull thru. Never again. Only convenience is they shuttle bus to the park.

| Tight spaces, LOTS of amenities

By user-5507107... on 2019-08-09. Stayed 2019-05-12 to 2019-05-13

We have stayed here twice (in the rain) in our 22ft Class C. For us there was plenty of space, but fire rings are very close to rigs. It was raining both times we stayed, so no one used them. The kids loved the arcade and playground! Laundry facilities and bathroom/showers were great! Propane fill up was reasonably priced and we got our souvenirs for Hershey on site at the well stocked camp store!! Shuttle to Hershey was nice! Next time we are hoping for sun to enjoy the pool!

| No rules

First thing getting there site 60 and 61 very uneven had to use a 6x6 under one side of trailer to level up. Second thing people renting cabin behind us would walk right through or site even after tell them about it they didn t care. Train tracks right next door train goes all the time by very loud. It was memorial day weekend and people across the street where setting off fireworks and or dogs do not like fireworks also there kids brought a small gas powered 4 wheeler with no helmets on driving up and down the street. Did not see any security To stop all of this. if it wasn t for Hershey there would be only one star.

| Good and bad

By user-6112160... on 2019-08-09.

Has its good and bad qualities. Good... Bathrooms and showers are extremely clean and very nice. Hey nice cabins Front desk people are very nice and helpful. Campground has lots of amenities. Volleyball, basketball, campfire, and nice pool Trash pickup at your site Bad... Half of the campground is right on train tracks and the train goes all night long. They gave us wristbands to use if we wanted to go to the pool. We want to get on the shuttle to go to Hershey Park and some lady kicked us off of the shuttle because we do not have arrest bands on. We were never told that we needed wristbands for the shuttle. Half of the park has very low limbs and just tear up your motorhome if you have a big tall rig.
