Owner is incredibly friendly! Very family friendly atmosphere. Nice pond with cool floaties for kids. Playground. Activities for kids.
Let me start by saying that the owner is a really nice guy and works hard to maintain a pretty and clean campground. That being said, Monday-Thursday weren't overly crowded but weekends are insane. You are seriously packed in (both RV's and tents) like sardines. The one thing that really bothered me was after reading all the amenities they list on their website and being excited about having lots to do during the week we spent there, we were shocked that you have to pay for everything (except playing in the lake). Here are things you have to pay for: the pool, mini golf, SHOWERS, horseshoes, bag toss, life vests (which are mandatory for under 13), and the fire wood is pricey, but you're not supposed to bring in your own. We just felt like if they list amenities, it would have been helpful to know there was a charge and those things aren't included in camping rates. There are permanent residents who are really psycho about the speed limit on the roads in the campground. It's 5mph, and they sit outside and scream at everyone. There's a lovely creek and the playgrounds are nice. It's very convenient to get to Somonauk, Sandwich, Plano, etc. There aren't many spots that include sewer so make sure you ask for it specifically if you need it.
Have stayed here 2x in 2 seasons. Adults & Kids both really enjoyed it! Great for groups too. Lots of choices: lake w/huge floating trampolines/toys or $1 for pool, rent 3&4 wheel bikes, ok mini golf, karaoke and dj on weekend nights, bingo, kid movies inside w/ac. Etc! Very friendly owners, attentive to you having a good experience.
