A party spot for undesirables. We felt very unsafe. Hidden behind an old gas station, Power outages, noisy motorcycles at all hours. The sites are long we thought until they backed another rv up to our bumper. cannot walk between the slide outs from your neighbor. I think next time we will stay in Edgewood.

This is a DANGEROUS Park

I wanted to warn folks about Hidden Valley RV Park in Tijeras, NM (outside of Albuquerque). Cars going up and down past our camper, knocks on our door after 10:30 at night "looking for my sister," intimidating residents staring my family down as they drive by, all allegedly part of an active drug dealing enterprise allegedly supported by the park's manager. We left early ... too dangerous to stay.

By the time we got here the park certainly did not deserve all the negativity. Yes the sites are narrow and the place is a bit dusty (we have stayed in narrower and dustier), but the place is neat, tidy and quiet, the residents were all friendly and mainly in newer rigs and the facilities were above par. We felt perfectly safe.

Not too happy

I arrived, was given a site number to park in. I drove up into the park and located the site. It was occupied. I called the office to tell them, asked if she meant for me to go into the vacant site beside it and she said no she did not mean that. Ok, I said, the site you gave me is occupied. Can I park in the vacant site right beside it. She told me yes.
So, I parked, hooked everything up, leveled, put out my slides, set up my outdoor rug, chairs, grill and dog fence. Them got in my recliner to watch some tv.
About an hour later, park employees showed and said I needed to move because I was in a site rented by some monthly renters who went camping for the weekend.
I moved into a smaller space that barely had room to set my my grill.
A week later, the only use the site I vacated had was someone parking a work truck every day.
Pretty obvious I was lied to by the park employees. There's nothing special about this park that makes me want to go back.

Very Old RV Park

On the positive side this RV park is located on Historic Route 66 and you can drive Route 66 into Albuquerque which is 15 minutes away. I want to compliment Shane (the Park Manager), Erin, Ed and Brandon on their incredible customer service and friendliness. I arrived at 3:55 pm on Sunday and the office closed at 4 PM. Ed and Brandon were very helpful in getting me checked in and stayed past 4 PM to ensure that I had everything I needed. There is a $5 per night resort fee. There is clean shower with hot water, a bench to put your clothes on and hooks for your towel near the shower (these are important little things). There are 4 washers and 4 dryers ($1.25 to wash and $1.00 to dry, 1 washer was out of order. There is a clean pool, vending machines in the clubhouse and you can buy post cards and a few little souvenirs in the office. There is also artwork by a local artist on display in the office which can be purchased.
Now onto the bad points. There is nothing that would qualify this campground as a resort. This RV park was built in the 1960's when RV's were very small. The sites are VERY small. When I put my slide and awning out they both went into my neighbors campsites. The sites are on an incline like stair steps and are separated by rotten railroad ties. Many of the sites are not very level. Because of poor drainage for rain there are huge holes near the railroad ties, be careful you don't sprain/break an ankle. There are many people that live there full time and their lots look like junkyards. The roads and sites are gravel. The posted speed limit is 5 mph which is not enforced. People speed down these roads so fast I have rocks bouncing off my camper. If there is heavy rain there is a river of dirt and rocks that flow down the road and the sites turn to mud. This would be someplace to stay overnight or a weekend while you visit Albuquerque or the surrounding area. Long term would be another story. According to Shane (Park Manager) there are plans to remodel the park in the near future. To meet the needs of RV'ers today this park needs serious renovation.
I was there using my Coast to Coast membership. There was an additional $5 resort fee that was charged. This campground is far from anything I would call a resort.

Narrowsites

The sites are extremely narrow. No yard whatsoever. No place to let the dogs out. Certainly no picnic table. Dusty. On the positive side, sites are relatively level, even though the park is on a hillside. Easy access and friendly new management, who are working hard to improve everything. Nice swimming pool and a playground area. All in all, a satisfactory place for overnight.

Great stop

We are travelling across country, and stopped for the night. Great wide, long sites. Dog park clean and big. We stayed in site #14. Easy access, right off the freeway. Quiet. We would stay here again! Passport America, great price for 50 amps.
