Reviews for Holly Bluff Family Campground

| Quiet campground with many friendly seasonals

My wife and I along with 2 sons (9&11) stayed here June 13 weekend in a 30ft travel trailer. Older campground with gravel sites. There are many seasonal campers approx 40%. The bathhouse is old and shows its age... Block building with concrete floor. The pool was very nice and arcade room. The staff was super friendly along with the seasonal folks who love to meet new folks. Sites 38 and 39 are prime spots for shade and close to pool and play ground.

We stayed there because it was close to the zoo, we were treated like family, by the staff and regulars bath house old, but very clean, the staff went out of their way to help us with an electrical problem, when the staff worker couldn't fox the problem he came by an hour later with a electrician, all this to make us feel welcomed.

| It's a no frills place

Don't expect great wifi or cable TV but I get 14 channels over air.. just a nice quiet place with a clean pool and the joy of watching kids ride their bikes and play basketball... it's a good place

2 stars because it feels safe and is fairly clean but I would not suggest staying very long. Probably fine for a short visit but if you stay more than a long weekend, several of the people who live there full time and have lived there forever are busy bodies who are rude. They do fun stuff for the kids over holidays but it's really for their visiting families. The manager yells at people's children constantly and unnecessarily, all aged children. The playground is a tetanus hazard and consists of a seesaw and 3 swings that are overrun by bees. We were there several months and no one weedwacked or removed the leaves ever. There were several families that had arrived together that were supposed to stay a few months but were driven out by the constant complaining of everything they did so they left early, which was disappointing for us because they were the only other children in the campground. It's just a really uncomfortable place to stay for long and was a disappointment because we were looking forward to having a little time to form friendships since we had to stay in one place for a while. We left earlier than we needed to to spend more than we were spending there but had to for our own sanity. Oh, and there are no chairs, tables or umbrellas at the pool so people bring their own chairs or sit on concrete. Expect amenities to be closed much of the time. Some of the long term people are nice but others are very difficult. If you don't have kids and don't care about people being in your business or unkind, then it's fine. Otherwise, I don't suggest staying here.
