Reviews for Holmes County State Park

Old park, has electric and water hookups, no pull through sites. Pretty tight quarters for larger Rvs trying to back into some of the spots. Pretty run down

We have been coming here for years. It's always been quiet and peaceful. Sounded like a shooting range is now close by. We only heard shooting during the day. So it wasn't too bad. We stayed on the only pull thru. Don't stay in #14, electricity. We stayed in a 30' 5th wheel.

We pulled up before 3pm on a Wednesday and the office was closed. On they way in there were potholes and debris all over the road. We pulled up to the rangers house and he told us the manager was his son and that the office was closed but we could give him our $13 and pick a spot. There were fallen tree limbs in almost every spot but we found one that seemed all right, I backed in, got out to set up, plugged in, and realized the electric didn’t work. Thinking it might just be the spot we were in I tried another spot and that one didn’t have electricity either. We went back to the rangers house, he pretended like he didn’t know about the electric and gave us our money back. There was one RV, a run-down trailer, there and it didn’t even look like it was lived in. The rest of the park was empty and I understand why. STAY AWAY!

We just needed an overnight and this place is just two miles off of I-55. We arrived about 4 p.m., there is no check-in station but there is a Rangers residence. As of 6 this morning we haven't seen anybody, there is one big rig trailer parked here otherwise the entire Park is empty. Yes, it needs an update but it served its purpose for us. The showers are functional although the floors could use a little new paint. We are in site number 14 and we did have electrical and water. Despite the complaints in the previous reviews, we consider it a port in the storm. It looks like there is one pull through site.
