Reviews for Indianapolis KOA

We really wanted to like this KOA as the owner was very nice and accommodating, but we were unfortunately ready to be out of there after a week. It seems the owner takes a lot of pride in his facility, as he should, but he needs to run a little more of a tight ship. There's a few longer-term residents (they weren't there on the weekend, so I assume they're temp workers that live there during the week) that don't seem to share the owner's sense of pride in the facility. The camper next to us, for example, had garbage and "stuff" all over his site and some on ours as well. They had garbage on the playground (which adjoined their site) as well. The maintenance staff, rather than picking it up, just ran it over with the mowers and further spread it around. I ended up picking up some of it as it was driving my wife crazy. There was construction material (lattice, etc.) that was dumped near the creek that separates the two halves of the campground. The dumpsters were overflowing (they do pick up your trash though.) We did not check out the bathrooms, but the owners/hosts have a little white dog that ran through the mud in the horse pen, then proceeded to jump into our vehicle as my wife was loading laundry. It got muddy paw prints all over the inside of the car - seats, dash, doors, etc. I think that was merely an accident, someone put the dog away shortly after, so we didn't make a "thing" of it - but it was still extremely annoying. Overall, it was by far our dirtiest KOA experience to date, but it seems to be due more to the fact that they let longer term residents do whatever they want (like idle their obnoxiously loud, modified pickup trucks at 5-6am, every morning, for a good half hour while they get ready for work) and with it being the off-season, they may not have the staff to stay on top of it. They seemed to be putting in additional sites and they clearly care about the landscaping which was nice, they just need to maintain consistency as it currently lends to an awkward and off-putting experience.

| Dark & Uninviting

Wanted $50 for a campsite we couldn't even find in the dark. Guy came, it wasn't to help but to make sure we weren't using the sump without paying. INHOSPITABLE JERKS. Don't bother.

Definitely feels more secure than that dark impossible-to-see-in KOA.

| Never will I go here

If you give these people money don't expect to get it back. I cancelled giving them over 45 day notice and they refused to give my deposit back. I received an email saying 48 hrs cancellation time period but they still refused and would not return my deposit. I would not give this campground any money ever! Beware!!

Clean and well kept campground. Staff was very friendly. Many nice sites and plenty of shady sites also. Nice new pool.

Great spot Level lot. No pads! Length of sites as advertised!

| Wrong Question

By user-5261784... on 2017-10-23.

When the first words out of the guy's mouth are, "You can't use that without paying," (when we weren't using anything -- it was just too dark for him to see that) instead of "Do you need help finding your campsite or something?" you know these people don't really want your business. Just leave. Go to Heartland down the road -- open all year, too.

I'm not sure about the other reviews. I've found the staff to be very friendly and helpful! I may just stay here for the season.

| Nicest KOA I've stayed at!

This KOA has a wonderful pool for the kids -- it's more like a waterpark! It's family friendly with a great playground for kids and bikes to rent if desired. There are even horses to see and a nice walking path with a creek. There is also a laundry facility with some exercise equipment. We had plenty of space for our "big rig" 42 ft. Fifth wheel. We were so pleased we ended up staying an extra night (we intended to just stop for one night to simply pass through). The area is well-kept with beautiful landscaping as well. I highly recommend this place!

We have been staying here for 10 years. THIS IS THE LAST TIME. The lady in the office refused to listen to me about the site being muddy. She stated it wasn't. Waded mud to set up and break down. The dumpster area is filthy. They had tried to put straw down by our site all that did was stick to our shoes. The lady in the office only interested in getting paid. It's sad because KOA is pricing itself out of business. Doug Myers

Uneven pads, close together. Owner is beyond rude and a very unhappy person. Worse place we ve stayed at and we ve been full time for 15 months travelling the US and Canada. They turned the water off on us and every one in the park without a knock at our door or phone call giving us any notice to be able to fill up our tanks.

Won t go back the owners are very rude. The site we stayed on was under water during a hard rain I ask if they could add some gravel to the pull through so we wouldn t have to walk through water getting in to are trailer and they told us we needed to get some rubber boots

| Nice place!

We stayed at a Full Hook-Up site with a swing. It was level and we really enjoyed the concrete patio. The site was perfect for TT and pickup. We ordered the pizza the first night and we are glad we did. It was delicous! And delivered right to our site! We will definitely stay here again! Most of the other sites looked level. The spots by the office might not be since it's on a little hill.

| Great location.

This is a great park that is well kept with large level spaces. It is easy on/off access to I-70 and 25 minutes from downtown Indy.

This is what all KOA Campgrounds should be. Great facility and staff. Spacious level and shady sites with a lot of grassy areas. A spectacular pool for the family. Just a beautiful Campground. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Indianapolis does not have many campgrounds. That being said, this place was only okay. In May 2019, we booked a one week stay for the end of July. When we arrived, we were surprised to drive down a gravel road with some potholes. You have to drive all the way to the back of the park to register. The young lady at reservations was warm and friendly. We drove back to our assigned spot and set the coach up to stay for a week. We quickly learned that our spot was quite undesirable. Everyone coming in had to go past us. The speed is posted at 5 mph, which would keep the dust down if it was observed or enforced. The biggest offenders were the folks working at the park. They were constantly buzzing up and down the road in vehicle. Our coach and car were quickly covered in a layer of dirt! We also found chicken bones on our site and in the dog walk area and pulled numerous bones out of our dogs mouths.
