Tight spaces but quiet
By user-4984599... on 2017-10-23.
The sites are tight especially in the 50 amp sites. It was the only place in the area with openings. It has a lot space to walk the dogs. Convo entry located to Hwy 70.

Overpriced parking lot
By user-5893581... on 2017-10-23.
$40 a night for 50 amp electric. Water turned off due to cold but no adjustment in price. Hosts are very nice. Good location but not worth the money! Just a notch above Wal Mart.

A ugly parking lot right on the interstate but has a nice playground/green space. Main reason to stay here is how close it is to red rocks if you're seeing a concert there this place is super convenient. Check in seemed to take forever and they wanted to do lots of extra paperwork which is annoying.

Jeffco Fairgrounds

You know what they say- "location, location, location". 4 stars b/c no sewer hook-ups. Staff is great! Park is clean. Bathrooms appear new. Location is perfect for everything Denver. If you want a state park atmosphere don't come here

Overpriced
By user-4870518... on 2017-10-23.
An asphalt parking lot with lines painted on it. $40 doesn't even get you sewer. Add an incredibly rude camp host and you get the picture. On a positive note the picnic area, playground & walking area is nice. Showers are clean. $25-30 would be almost worth it.

RV park with some tent sites. Very tight when busy, spacious during off season. 14 day stay limit as it's a county park.
Playground+
Excellent wifi+
Hot showers ++

Great Rv spot
By user-5889745... on 2017-10-23.
Nice pull through spots. Large rigs have plenty of room. Clean bathrooms and hot showers. Small store with essentials, toothpaste, soap, fresh water hoses, deoderant, ice etc. Friendly helpful staff guided us while parking. Many events to see all summer long. I would definitely stay again.

Walmart parking lot is better
By user-4722852... on 2017-10-23.
Stayed 2015-09-17 to 2015-09-18
When I read the previous post on this fairgrounds I thought it really can not be as bad as they said compared to walmart.
I was promised a pull thru I got a back in on a parking lot with my neighbors slides on the line. I had to park as close as possible to him and still get my slides out while hoping if someone parked next to me they would not back into the slides on my other side.
IMO walmart has much better spacing and less chance of an accident. I will never stay here again

Nice to have a hot shower in a clean facility

I took off a star as I feel the pricing is a bit high (as it's basically a parking lot and pretty tightly packed, although this time of year they weren't full) but if you know that going in...
Darryl, the camp host I had the most contact with, was an absolute gem, nice playground, picnic tables, the bathrooms were spotless, showers hot and private - and no feeding quarters, there are great areas for dog walking, and it's still cheaper than other local options. Camp "shack" has a few items like ice, chips and toiletries and there is a soda vending machine by the bathrooms ($2.00 - change, $1 or $5). At least one campfire pit.
There's a train station nearby (but no parking), and plenty of amenities over on S Golden road including laundry, grocery, drug store, dollar store, thrift, fast food, etc.
Tip: When dog walking on the round track in front of the shelter (I was camped by the shelter and you rarely heard the dogs barking, this time of year at least) be sure to walk "clockwise" or left to right or you'll get dirty looks from the volunteer dog walkers. They have rules not to let dogs meet other dogs but they forget no one tells the camping public there are rules! Took me a few nasty looks to figure it out - LOL. Lots of doggie waste stations.

Time consuming
By user-5797066... on 2018-07-06.
Stayed 2018-05-08 to 2018-05-11
We rolled up midweek with no reservations. The amount of paperwork to get a site was crazy. Drivers License, registration, proof of RV insurance. Then we had to be "escorted" to the pull thru 30 amp site. It must have taken nearly an hour to get from the gate to the site. The site is narrow and water, electric only. Gravel and right on top of the neighbors. Dump station on the way out. $40

NO Public Camping as of 2019
By user-unknown on 2019-08-09.
Called new policy in 2019 says no public camping. The only time you can stay is if you are a vendor for an event or you have livestock padded, penned, or boarded here.
