We've stayed here several times. Unless you come during one of the special events that happen from time to time (like a rock & gem show that recurs) then you almost have the place to yourself. One time we actually DID! But it's a great place to use as "base camp" for visiting friends and family, shopping for antiques, seeing Joshua Tree Park, or just tooling around the town. A bit pricey for what you get but you can negotiate. Great for caravans like a ham radio group that was there when we visited - lots going on, and when they saw our ham callsign license plate we were instantly "part of the party!"
We were here in June 2017. The campground is only a sandy square with not a single tree or bush. Restrooms are old and not very clean. Never again. Far too expensive for what You get!
Agreed with other reviews, they're lean on amenities - it's pretty bare-bones - but it was there when we needed it and I was happy to have them help us out with a place to stay when we were visiting our daughter and grandkids a while back. It's on our "alternates" list.
