Reviews for Joy-O Campground

| Cozy, friendly, little RV park

By user-5844405... on 2017-10-23.

Lucked up finding this little jewel. It's right off the highway, easy on and off. Exit 68 on I-40. Ann, the owner, is very nice and friendly. Stayed one night with a 5th wheel. Sites were level, gravel and long. The rec room and laundry room are open 24 hours. They have bathrooms and a small pool. 30/50 amps. Property was well kept. Not fancy but cozy. They do have a couple of sites that you can get a satellite signal. Mom and Pop operation. They made us feel very welcome. Definitely recommend Joy O!

| Very nice

We have been here for 6 weeks. And love it!!! Very laid back. Down side is it gets muddy when it rains but the owner is working hard to get that taken care of by bringing in gravel. There is no play ground but plenty of room for the kids to play. 15 miles either way you have a good size town. This campground is for sure the best in this area. We will be back anytime we are in this area. Staff is great and will do anything they can to help when you need it.

A decent stop over for us. It's safe, convenient to the highway and stores etc. Will stay again.

This is campground is very convenient to the interstate and Memphis. We stayed overnight in a fifth wheel. The owner was very kind and helpful. Now for the bad it is very very muddy if there has been any rain. Which there was while we were there. This park needs gravel everywhere. It has not seen a gravel truck in a long time. Hate to give this review because the owner was so nice. Word to the wise if it is raining call before you arrive and see if any new gravel has been put down. If not move on.

| Great for a one-nighter

By user-5801025... on 2017-10-23.

This is an older, small, private park. Level, gravel sites, FHU, 50/30amp, wifi, small pool, laundry and bathrooms. No showers, no cable (did not try air tv). Good radio stations. $30 with GS discount. Easy off and on I-40. Nice staff and owners. We would return if in this area again.

| Mud!

By user-6641112... on 2017-10-23.

The other reviewer was right. It's a muddy mess. Drove in the rain from Memphis and had no intention to stay here but after stopping at the TA for gas and a break I realized joy-o is across the road from the TA so I went there and the man was very nice and the place is nice other than the drive getting in there. The pool was clean and looked nice, there is a large room for whatever and a laundry room which I can't comment on. Wifi didn't work for me and couldn't get any TV stations with my antenna. Around 4:00am a fifth wheel came in to the site beside me to dump his tanks take on water and leave. I suppose he sent his payment in the mail. I paid $33.00 for the night.

| Very Nice(: We LOVED it!!

We stayed here for a while when we was in the area working. Well taken care of..The owner wasn't used to children but we was the first set to actually stay for a while with them, but she became very understanding and worked with us all. The pool was nice in the summer and well maintained.. Did get a little muddy but the workers took care of it when we brought it to their attention. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here for a few months working in Jackson. Staff was friendly, helpful, nice/ quiet. It was the nicest one close to the job, there was some nice campground but you couldn't stay a month at a time. Their no town in the area other than Jackson, or Brownsville. I'd stay here again if in the area.

| Great little park

Would stop here again... nice pool easy off and on. We stayed one night and the price is right... nothing fancy but that's fine with us. $30 with GS

| Great overnight!

Right off the highway, quiet & safe. Robert is very nice & helpful. They have a pool, laundry & bath house. Nothing fancy, but nice huge trees! It is a small park, but 2 more 40ft class A's came in after us.

| Nice option

Great little park, easy on/off for I40. So much better than a rest area or truck stop for an overnight break. We plugged in, deployed the slide outs, than let the kids swim for a few hours. It has shade, a nice little pool, 50/30 amp. I would definitely use them again. Note: cash/check only.

| Good little spot!

By user-5898261... on 2017-10-23.

Stayed 2 weeks while working in the area. Easily accessible from I-40. Nice level spots that are mostly pull through with gravel roads. Great shade trees around the park to help with AC usage. Nice little pool for cooling off on the hotter days. Facilities could use an upgrade but are functional. Will stay again when in the area. Stayed in 35" skoolie.

| Muddy messApril

By user-5806384... on 2018-05-17.

One lane dirt road in and out--what a mess. Sites aren't long or level. Was actually afraid to plug up to electric. Nicest man at the desk--gave me a choice of any site.

Great place for a stop over. Staff is very friendly and helpful, even providing a 24 hr cell number. There has been a lot of rain recently but they were busy cutting grass and grading roads. While not fancy, it is nice and peaceful with easy I-40 access. Would stay again.

| 30 amp space isnt 30 amp

By user-5881664... on 2018-07-06. Stayed 2018-07-01 to 2018-07-02

My camper's 2 low amp draw 13500 btu air conditioners can be easily run using my generator (which has a 30 amp breaker) plus I can run appliances. In this campground I can only run 1 air conditioner and nothing else in a 30 amp space. The breakers are not on the riser outside the camper. They are 150 feet away in a large breaker box. The line loss is cutting available amperage to the spaces.

| Basic but good

By user-4690513... on 2019-08-09. Stayed 2018-05-15 to 2018-08-04

We were in the area for work. Stayed here for 3 month. It was quite and basic. The pool was ok. But most important, it was the only park in the area that I would stay at! All the other parks around are trailer parks. Some are scary. This one is an RV park and is decent.

We were traveling and stayed one night but the hookups were good and the pads were solid. Very quiet. The Camp host was such a delight and very helpful and friendly.

| Nice lady, run down park

By user-6664362... on 2019-08-09.

I stayed here for one night on my way across Tennessee. The older lady that owns it is very sweet. The park is very small, and in rough shape. My electric hookup had no breakers, and was kind of scared to use it. The sewer kept backing up, so I gave up trying to dump. No cable. Over priced at 33 bucks.

| Simple And Clean

By user-unknown on 2019-08-09. Stayed 2019-06-01 to 2019-06-03

Stayed here two nights for work. The park is rather small and tucked away nicely from I40. The interstate is close but not too close. Very friendly stay. Spots are level and lined with pea gravel. In wet weather mud should not be a problem. Very clean and well maintained with the friendliest staff you could ask for. Friendly even by TN standards which says a lot! The only possible gripe is no WiFi and cash only. $66 total for 2 nights for 30 amp service. I will definitely be back.
