| Lake Chicot State Park

Right on the lake, great views. Asphalt pads and lots of room. Picnic tables, fire rings and grills. Roads in park potholed. Road to park potholed too. Better come in from the south end of the lake to minimize the time spent dodging potholes. $22 a night electric only. Lots of fishermen in the park may be very busy in peak period. We stayed in our 36' Motorhome.

In the winter months it is not busy even though on an Oxbow Lake. Paved campground with trees, trails, boat ramp (bike and canoe rentals in season and fishing lodge open). The park visitor center is a museum telling about the civil war battle fought here as well as the local wildlife, maps and gift shop. Rangers also give scheduled talks which they could promote more. Wifi at visitor center. You can access it after hours sitting outside the building. (They could add a bench). Campsites had picnic table, hook to hang camplight and fire pit. Firewood is abundant from fallen branches. If going to campground A while towing, be advised that the sharp left hand turn can drag your tow through steep soft dirt. A better way is to go by campground A to the boat ramp parking lot and make a loop through the recreation center parking lot across from the entry to Campground A so you have a long straight shot into the campground. We liked so much decided to stay an extra day and she game me a Sr. discount. Stayed in 40' motor home with tow and didn't have to unhook to fit. Great for pets.

We drove a bit out of our way because of the pool. When we got here, it appears to be public, with locals buying season passes. There must be 50 kids in pool. Also, we would need to pay $4.00 each to use pool. That is for 20 uses, but we are here for 2 days. No campsites are near lake, and the bathhouse near us is closed and in disrepair. We have stayed at COE campgrounds for less and much nicer. Very disappointed.
