Camped there in 2016 and loved it. This year, 2017, we wanted to return there while visiting friends in the area. We called several days in advance of our arrival date and were told the campground was not full and come on. Upon our arrival on Sunday, we were surprised to be told that the campground was full! There was no one to speak with to confirm our phone call message. We drive into the Campground and found it EMPTY except for two campers! We pulled onto an empty site and returned to the office. There, to our surprise, was an office manager who told us to camp anywhere since we were already there. In the morning when we called the County Parks and Rec's office, we were told we could stay but they are NO LINGER taking in any walk-ins. You must have a reservation which can only be done by calling Volusia County Parks and Rec during office hours Monday through Friday. You can not stay there without this reservation which can not be made at the campground.

| Excellent location

Right on the lake sites are easy to get in and out of. Water and electric only at sites but dump station is easy access. We stayed for 5 days and did some day tripping including the 30 minute drive one way to Universal Studios. The drive was easy and for the price it couldn’t be beat

| Good little spot- availability on the weekends

We ended up here because of weekends being booked up at the various state and county parks nearby. But we enjoy this place. First, the cons: a good bit of noise from I-4, and the train tracks. There's no campground staff per see, but the maintenance crew is very friendly. There are some mosquitos due to being close to the lake. The pros: It's well maintained, lots are level, the other campers are quiet, it feels safe. The showers are awesome: it's a shower, toilet, and sink in one room, so you can have complete privacy. The spring to spring trail is awesome for walking or biking (paved and flat and very well maintained.) It's about a 3 mile trek to Gemini Springs, which I recommend! Lots of wildlife: armadillos, hawks, owls, turtles, rabbits, and many different birds. Also, there's a fishing pier and boat ramp here. Easy navigation in our 31 foot class C. Dump station is clean. Beautiful surroundings. And Sandford has a wonderful little downtown and River walk.
