This park is about 15 miles from gas, fuel, supplies, or any significant form of civilization. Arrive prepared. If you're coming from the north, or leaving the park headed north your GPS will try to send you down a sand fire road that is a death trap for RV's. Take the paved road. Its longer but much safer. The park itself is very large with over 400 full hookup sites. All are grassy, boundaries between sites are vague, no site is level and most are back-in. With one exception, staff are helpful. We arrived shortly after dark in the rain and told to find any site we wanted that was vacant, which given the layout was a guess at best. The lack of site definition resulted in one rig parked 4 feet from my awning for three nights. The park is on a bluff overlooking the lake so northern perimeter sites have a lake view. There are two hiking trails to the lake, and probably good fishing later in the year. There's lots of wildlife in the area surrounding the park and the park gets visited by various critters including racoons, black bears, owls and coyotes. Lots of vacant land but only one tiny off leash dog park. Large unheated pool, nice playground. By Thursday the park starts to fill with ATVers using the trails in Ocala National Forest until Sunday. Met some of the nicest campers anywhere while staying. Very few picnic tables or fire rings. Store has very limited stock and no staples like bread or milk. If you're an ATVer, it's great. If you want a peaceful spot, and you have any needed supplies with you, it's great from Sunday night to Thursday. If you are camping in a group, it should work well. Bring insecticide for the billions of tiny ants.
