Reviews for Lake Somerville Marina & Campground

| Nice getaway close to the Houston area.

First time staying with a travel trailer. Always camped with a tent in the past. Really nice layout, lots of water views and lake access. Good fishing. The RV spots are HUGE, we had probably 1/2 acre to ourselves, and our uncle stayed in another 1/2 acre spot next to ours, so lots of privacy. The only thing keeping this place from 5 stars is despite the rules stating "All dogs must be on leash at all times" they did not enforce it. So, most of the time, our dog was the only one on her leash and every other dog in the park came running at her and we had to chase them out of our spot, and away from us while taking walks. We will definitely be going again every time we get a three-day weekend.

We landed here for six days for our maiden voyage in our new 44’ fifth wheel. The first place they put us at, we sank. We moved to the marina side of the park (thanks to the very kind owner) where we set up without problems. Beautiful views since we were the only folks there. Pull through sites, 50/30 A hook ups. One night we went into Brenham for dinner and returned in a horrible rain storm at 8:02pm. Gate closed. No one working. Thankfully we found an emergency number on the window (in the rain) and they walked us through entering the code on the gate to manually open it to get into the park. When we left two days later, the trees at the exit were too low. I asked the woman at the front if there was another exit, and she got mad and said how no one ever complains about the trees and slammed the window on me. Clearly, she was having a horrible day for some reason. We ended up leaving that way but had to swing off the road to get past the lowest trees. It’s an acceptable place near Houston. I’d be nervous about going there in a big rig going forward if they don’t cut the trees at the exit.
