Reviews for Leo Carrillo State Beach

| Pretty CRAPPY experience

Upon arrival, I was pretty under impressed when I realized that I spent $45 on a no hook up site. It was my own fault however, so we made the best of it… it was a decent enough day, so we decided just to open all the windows in the camper. I was a little frustrated when I learn the park closes at 10 PM, because I was wanting to take my kids to the Santa Monica pier that night… I understand it's a safety issue, so I appreciate that for what it is. The staff was friendly and the park was clean, so I will get to my complaint..... 0630 wake up call when the septic company came to drain the tanks. The smell was so empowering I woke up instantly and before we could get the trailer loaded up and out of there, I had a headache and stomach ache. They were quick enough, however to be done before we were, so we decided to shower... and to our surprise, while we were showering, the truck showed BACK UP and stunk up the whole area all over again, only this time we were IN THE RESTROOMS. IT WAS DISGUSTING. I have no intentions of ever visiting again, even though it is the closest place to my happy place that I could find.

| Nice place but poorly laid out

By user-5893842... on 2017-10-23. Stayed 2016-12-27 to 2016-12-29

There is electricity despite what previous reviewers said, but no water or sewer. There is a dump station. There is also tunnel beach access for the north and south beaches.

great place for tenting I have been going here since i was a child. i will go with trailer this next summer. Aside of no cable wifi etc. It really puts you in touch with malibu camping life. But its extremely hard to book more than a night or two in a row

So beautiful! Nice host. No hook ups but water and dump station available. Nice showers and a short walk to the beach. I wish I knew about this place sooner! Like camping in the mountains with the convenience of the beach access. Love it.

| Green campground

We stayed at Leo Carrillo only for one night but liked it for its closeness to the beach and its shady campsites between lots of trees. Like most SP campgrounds on the coast rather expensive for no hook -ups.

| Overnight... Not so good

Like all other state Park is lovely place, but beware that is not on the beach. Just for overnight I do not understand the 45$ with almost anything (no hookup, WiFi... ) Overnight (meaning arriving at 6pm an leaving at 9am) should be free or similar...
