| Drive to the beach - much nicer there!

Unless you want to be crammed tight listening to the dozen+ generators of Malaquite, go a bit further south of the visitor center to the open beach. There is a flush bathroom at Malaquite though with cold showers. No services on the sites except for picnic tables. Dump station at the exit.

| Skip Malaquite

Skip Malaquite and go on down to 5 miles of open space with a grand view of the Gulf - No services on the open beach but completely free parking and solitude (park so that generators can be far away).

| Peaceful, quiet beach area.

We enjoyed our stay here. First time boon-docking and greatly enjoyed this clean site. Wish there was a seafood restaurant close by. Each area is paved with room for Campers via tent and RV. Plan accordingly! No hookups, but you're welcome to run your generator. (Not allowed to run generator 10pm to 6am). There is a water site to load up on water before you get to the campground. Walking distance from beach, nice deck with beautiful views. Each area comes with a picnic table. Restrooms and showers in walking distance. Visitors center in walking distance 1mile down from the camping site. Rangers are very nice and informative. Perfect time to visit, not crowded. Get fuel in Corpus. After Corpus, fuel prices go up and no fuel on Padre Island.
