Star gazers & astronomy enthusiasts check this place out. My husband loves this little park as it offers amazing views of the night sky. The area is rated a scale 1 on the Bortle Light Pollution scale. Any given night we have been here there are folks out looking thru telescopes & taking pictures of the night sky. 2 pics here are pics my husband took one night. The park isn't very big with only 19 sites but does have good WiFi & cable TV. Also, 3 level concrete pads with 110 power & a shade cloth cover to prevent any light intrusion if you want to get out your own telescope. The owner is very nice, will talk about the night sky with you & let you look thru his large telescope. Marathon, TX is known as the north gateway to Big Bend National Park. While it is a little ways to the park, the drive makes for a nice day trip. We actually went there 2 different days during our stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice place, well kept level spaces. The owners have done a great job of decorating the park. Stayed during a Full Moon so didn't get to experience just how dark it was suppose to get there, maybe next time.

Great place to stay in Marathon. Nothing fancy and the train is pretty noisy at night, but other than that a neat place. We enjoyed learning about the stars with the owner Danny at night. Restrooms are clean and the staff is very friendly.

Park is very pleasant to look at, motel cabins are adorbs. Separate area for big rigs (class a) or so it seems. We stayed on level gravel lot with full hookups. Bathrooms are nicely decorated and very clean, rare to find as nice as these. I paid $35 for my class c RV.

We stopped over heading to Big Bend national park and what a wonderful oasis deep in the heart of Texas! Hosts were gracious and grounds well maintained. Ate dinner at White Buffalo restaurant easy walk from park...excellent food. Star gazing was awesome.

I have stayed here several times and every time it's wonderful. Cool nights, stars galore, and a small plaza with a fireplace to socialize. Yes, it's mostly gravel but this is the desert. Call ahead to ask for one of the spots in the back if you can get it.

| Pretty park

Small all gravel but a nice place. Sometimes the owner gives an evening star show. Good Verizon and a great place to get settled outside the park. However , it is not a good place to stock up. Gas is very expensive 3.15 when Sanderson was 2.70. and the small grocery store has just the minimum and is pricie too. You can understand why, but I would stock up either in Sanderson or Alpine. Also there is a little market with good selection in Study Butte.

While trying to get last minute accommodations on weekend near Big Bend, I called this place. They were full, but let me dry camp for $15 with use of shower, bathroom and WiFi. Bathrooms, yard and entire property clean and well cared for.

| Over 40 cable channels.

Cute small park on hwy, divided into 2 sections, a few cabins and area for campfire & chatting or singing at night. Gravel no picnic table, but lots of stars out at night. They have a telescope viewing at night. We had cloudy weather so couldn't appreciate it. Very accommodating as we had to change sites to be able to stay 2 nights. Easy access to Big Bend National Park. Small town with several cafes. Would return if in the area again.

Small campground that also has small cottages. Campground is large gravelled area and sites are close. No picnic tables. There is one restroom/shower for women and one for men, so occasionally that was an issue, but they were clean. BUT, the courtyard was worth the stay! It was walled-in, with lush green grass, trees, plants, fountains, benches, tables, fireplace, beautifully lit at night. A respite from the heat. We stayed in a Class B and would stay again.
