This is our favorite state park for a quiet weekend away. Shallow lake makes for great kayaking or canoeing and low noise as there are few power boats on the lake. Gators don't bother you and are interesting to watch when you do see one.
Watch 4 gators if you have pets, canoes for rent...
Enjoyed stay there only problem was the gators :)
The park was beautiful and peaceful. The sites were large and roomy. We had plenty of shade. Some of the park was not accessible due to damage from Harvey. My only complaint was I do not think they had enough bath houses. When we went there were a ton of Cub Scouts and the bathroom was always full.
Campground is very pretty, views of water with cypress trees. Bathrooms very clean and warm which is nice since it is cold. We got a Texas pass and paid $16 for a 30 amp site. Without the pass, you would also pay a daily fee.
