Reviews for Matagorda Bay Nature Park

| Nice Park

Nicely spaced and very level pads. Person at check in was very friendly and obviously likes her job - fun to see someone who enjoys what they do. A "few" mosquitos even in December but to be expected with that much water around.

| Nice Getaway on the Beach!

We really enjoyed our stay at this park. Check-in was easy and the staff was friendly. Driveways and parking pads are spacious and level. Utilities are within easy reach. Grounds are kept very clean. One of the hosts even scrubs all parts of the concrete tables after each campsite is vacated! Restrooms, showers, and laundromat were all in good shape. The nature center has a small gift shop and nature displays. If you want them, wifi and cell coverage are both good. The only down side is the $5 per person per day fee that they add to the campsite fees. There are no shade trees, but the sea breeze keeps things comfortable. No campfires allowed but you can use your charcoal or propane grill. Our site was just a few steps from the Colorado River and its 2 fishing piers. The gulf is also within walking distance and has a very long and large pier. The beach was in pristine condition when we were there! Great sand, clean water, no trash, no seaweed, no jellyfish, and very few people! At night the campground was very quiet and despite a few street lights, the sky was very dark, providing for excellent star-gazing.

| Second visit

This was our second stay here and we had a few things to add. Most points from our first review still stand, but a few things have changed. They have raised the price of the waterfront sites to $37. This time there were quite a few mosquitoes, more trash on the beach than before, and the county has enacted a swimming ban for 400 feet either side of the jetties. We really enjoyed all the pelicans and seagulls that fished for their meals nearby. Overall still nice and peaceful though, and we plan to return.

Our experience at this park has been nothing but wonderful, park is well maintained workers constantly keeping the grounds up, btw you can have a fire as long as it is in a container they even provide ash cans for your fires remains, bags are provided for your pet walks, staff is nothing but great, laundry facilities are modern and efficient, we loved it here and will be back.

The check in was easy, and we found are site with no issues. Very very clean park. Everyone was so friendly and I watched a guy pull in two large red fish, one was 38 inches. The price of the site to $37. There were quite a few mosquitoes, but nothing to horrible. We really enjoyed all the pelicans. This is a nice and peaceful getaway, and we plan to return.

| What a great stay!!!!

Happened to find this park on the PA site. We had a great stay and extended for an additional week. Great location on the Colorado River and the Gulf. Fishermen and women flock to the Jetty and you can get a permit to drive on the beach. The Park has activities but best of all it is very relaxing . You can hear the waves and there are many birds as well as tons of shells. Looking for a place to unwind, this is it!

This park was very clean and family friendly. The laundry room, bathrooms, and showers were clean. The spots are far enough away to feel like you have a little private area. All spots are concrete with concrete picnic tables. There was several fishing piers on the river side and a short walk to the jetties and beach side. The park had activities to do for the kids during Spring Break. We will definitely go back!

Great park all concrete sites with concrete table. Peir for fishing in the Colorado river and very clean beaches across the street. Make sure you bring everything you need the closest store is 6 miles away.
