Convenient for Visiting Austin

Park is nicely laid out. Spot 45 is a nice one - sort of private. Have had issues with chiggers so watch out for those little guys. Also had one time where an over zealous Park Ranger took the parking diagram very literally and although no cars were parked off the driveway she wanted them aligned exactly as the diagram showed with bumpers perfectly aligned etc. It may have been her first week on the job. We moved our cars the required 10 inches and she was very happy which made us happy campers too.

This park has about 6 miles of hiking & biking trails, but there has been some damage done by recent floods and the walk-in campground, visitor's center, and Rock Shelter trail are closed as a result. Some roads are narrow and some sites are not level. There are lots of birds singing, but unfortunately you also hear noise from the nearby vehicular and aircraft traffic. There is supposed to be wifi at headquarters, but we got no signal at our nearby campsite. The falls are scenic and are worth checking out.

Loved our visit. We noted the air traffic but it seemed so far off and was never a problem. We loved the falls and the hiking. We will come back when the upper falls and nature center are open again. Spacious sites with privacy and with great BBQ/fire pits & pads for tenting beside each druve

I live in Austin so was looking for a close site to break in our new TT. Quiet, roomy, lots of pull thru's. Each site has a nice tent pad. We did not use the restrooms or showers s we were trying to gauge our water and sewer usage. Lots of water in the creek. $20/night plus $6 park fee. We have Texas park pass so saved that plus got half off second night. Good site for birding and 15 min or so to downtown.

Quiet, spacious, plenty of distance between sites. One odd thing - when I got there the sign said “campground full” yet 40% of the spaces were vacant. Same thing every day. I would’ve stayed longer but they said they were booked up, so I left at 2 PM (check out time) and added one more to the vacants.

This is a great park with lots of easy hikes and cool history. The sites are big and spaced out. Really close to Austin and the airport but you'd never know it by the peace and quiet.

Beautiful park with well maintained path to walk or ride bikes. We stayed here 2 days, off season. We will be back. We stayed in big oak loop. The camp sites are large and private. Nice test space if needed. The fire pits have a unique area to allow for cool camp cooking options. Clean park. So close to South Congress area, we drove in for tourist stuff and listening to live music in huge evenings.

If you have a class A, or large 5th wheel, this park is not for you. We are very used to state park camping, but the vast majority of campers in this park were locals in smaller campers. Our site said it was 71ft, but it was a curved pull thru, and it took a lot of maneuvering by a very skilled driver to fit. We are 35' and I don't think there is anyway a 5th wheel on a truck or anything longer would have fit. Additionally, the site was very unlevel. There were trees hanging much below 12 that we had to dodge(or hit), including at the pump station itself.
The park itself was beautiful, and we had a great time here, but if you have a larger rig, it's a day visit place

Gorgeous state park with upper and lower falls; nice trails & great bike trail; can swim in falls but dogs cannot; gravel, pull-thru sites; stayed in very large, level, horseshoe-shaped site next to bathhouse; bathhouse adequate but no hand soap; good location to explore Austin; not much shade at our site; must pay daily entrance fee as well as camping fee; would stay here again!
