Reviews for Meaher State Park

We pulled in after hours for an overnight in a 5th wheel and were able to pick any open spot. It was very clean and quiet. There had been a lot of rain so bugs were horrible. We woke up to a cute crab under the truck and ants covering the front of the rv. Beautiful scenery. Would probably come back only in the Winter.

We always stay here when in the area. True big rig access, between I-10 and 90. With easy access on US 90. Quiet park, super clean. Great attendants, tho often doing maintainable in the park and not at office. Ants are a major problem, so take precaution. We use "Crawling Insect Killer Containing Diatomaceous Earth" from lowes. Circle the wheels and power all access cords. This place is worth the extra effort. Big trees, Fishing dock with an Alligator always in view. Neat place, close to battleship, restaurants and shopping.

| A bit pricey, but a nice park on the Gulf

By user-5801025... on 2017-10-23.

We put down Comet cleanser around tires, and rv legs, and never saw an ant. The parking spaces and utilities are fine. Lots of places to walk dogs, quiet, small park directly on the water. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The reason for the 4 stars is due to the showers. You have shower curtains only for privacy, and your could not adjust the water temperature. The water turns on with a button that goes off in about 5 minutes, so if you need longer time your have to repress the button. There are no chairs or benches in the handicap showers. One of the staff members, Judy, helped us get a folding chair for my husband to use. There really needs to be a moveable bench or something in the handicapped showers.

Couldn't access the stars. 1 star maybe. Big spaces but not worth the ants.

It's a small park, but quiet and well maintained right on Mobile Bay. Lots of gators swimming about in the bay to watch in the morning, as well as from the fishing pier that's located off of parking stalls eight and nine. The showers are clean and there are a couple separate bathroom facilities at both and's of the park. There's also a small playground, a boat ramp and easy access to the rest of the state park just across the entrance on the causeway. The stalls are paved and 11, and each are equipped with a picnic table and grill although both are a little dated and probably need replacing. No issues with the 50 amp electric or water service although I did have ants crawl up my waterline and swarm around my city water connection on my RV. Fortunately, I caught it in time and elevated my waterline off the ground which solved the problem. A great state park to stay in, just be sure to follow everyone's advice and spray around your tires after parking, and keep your lines elevated off the ground to avoid ants.

We stayed one week while working local. Yes there are ants but most parks have ants. The brochure suggests spraying for ants, so we did. We had great experiences around the park. The staff is friendly and the facilities are nice and clean. Bunnies on the walkway to the boardwalk would let you get pretty close before hopping away. Beautiful sunsets over the water. Small playground area and pavilions. We love the trees and water. Plenty of historical attractions nearby as well. Stayed in 35' skoolie. Will stay again!

Nice, well maintained and very clean. Only negative is the constant roar from I-10.

| A little pricey

42.00 for full hook-up. But I suppose near the city and all... Sites are level concrete with grassy area well Maintained. Showers are push button type. There is a laundry too. Just three machines of each type..$1.50 to wash and $1 to dry. There are some tent sites and if you are a small RV like us you might squeeze in. 20 amp service there. The whole park has good Verizon coverage, 2-4bars

Loved this location! Roomy lots, well-maintained grounds, clean bathrooms. And the bonus is the lovely view of the bay. We’ll be back for a longer stay!

A spot next to the bay overlooking the city?! Clean bathrooms showers and a small playground? Staff excited to be working this location? Yes! This is a gem find and worth the stay. 10min from the battleship and local restaurants. Very much worth the stay. Shhhh don t tell anyone. This might be overrun if word gets out.

We live local and go camping there just to get out of the house. They have control of the ants so don t be worried about the negative reviews. Good power and full hook ups on every lot and lots of space for any bigger rigs.

Very pretty setting in a nice park. Full hookups, too! A bit pricey for a state park but worth it.

| Excellent for multi-use camping in Mobile area

Were with group with TT, tent, and van camping. Great all around. Bathhouse was above average for state park. On the bay, so get good breezes. Bay littoral heavy with reeds, which I believe reduce alligator threat at campsite. (We were closest sites to water with three small dogs, so that was a concern with us. Our group--as well as others--included younger children. The playground is gone, but kids had a great time running and biking around and playing with others. We stayed for five nights, but it would work as an overnight.
