Reviews for Medina / Wildwood Lake KOA

| Could be great, but...

This place has the potential to be great, but in my experience it was not worth the inflated KOA price. It is about an hour drive from Niagara, so it's definitely cheaper than the closer campgrounds. However, it's remote location can cause you to spend even more, either driving twenty minutes or more to get supplies or paying more to buy from the camp store. I was a little shocked when I checked in and was informed that they charged a $10 deposit for the security gate key card and that they only accepted cash for the deposit. I didn't see anything about that in the multiple emails I got prior to arrival. The campground had lots of activities and amenities that you would expect at a KOA, but we didn't have time for any of them, so I can't comment. The sites were muddy and uneven. The sewer drains are elevated, which made dumping a challenge. At my site, the drain was pretty much level with the dump on my rig, so I had to play the lift and drain game with the hose whenever I was dumping. I can't comment on the bath house, because it was too far from my site to bother using it. When we were leaving, I couldn't find a dumpster to throw our trash in, so I asked the girl at the office on our way out where it was. She looked at me like I had something growing out of my forehead. She had to grab another girl from the back who said they usually pick it up from the site, but I wasn't told that on check in. The second girl couldn't tell me where a dumpster was either, so I got fed up and just took it with us. If I'm up that way again, I'll probably pay the higher price to stay closer to town.

Upon checking we found our site was different from the one they had originally told me. They advised this one was much nicer and was a pull through. We pulled up and it looked like a war zone! The nicer sites were literally all mud, uneven and had no grass. After my van getting stuck, I called up front and asked about being moved to the site they had originally gave us and they told us that it wasn t available any more but they could bring some wood chips out to sprinkle around. We are extremely disappointed that we were left with the only choice but to leave. Unfortunately we have more reservations later in the summer and we are very nervous this is going to happen again. We d cancel but we d lose money.
